		  of Defense or an element of the intelligence community for the purpose of, or
		  which would have the effect of supporting, directly or indirectly, military or
		  paramilitary operations in Syria by any nation, group, organization, movement,

		<section id="H610F01EFAD5D4CA58895D4B90D67354F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Syria Non-Intervention Act of
			 2012</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H5638D30BF66240FCBD4BF995C1020EC1"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition on
			 use of funds for military or paramilitary operations in Syria</header>
			<subsection id="H4C485DE3EF484EAB9B6BBA1400099561"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Prohibition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No funds available to the Department of
			 Defense or an element of the intelligence community may be obligated or
			 expended for the purpose of, or which would have the effect of supporting,
			 directly or indirectly, military or paramilitary operations in Syria by any
			 nation, group, organization, movement, or individual.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H7A35446B89EB4C0BAA508642E6E1B0BE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Exception</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (a) shall not apply to the
			 obligation or expenditure of funds pursuant to a declaration of war against
			 Syria by the United States.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H43EC8284BF374DA19B36E21F72DDC0D2"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>In
			 this section, the term <term>intelligence community</term> has the meaning
			 given the term in section 3(4) of the National Security Act of 1947 (50 U.S.C.
			 401a(4)).</text>
