		<official-title>To amend the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to establish
		  minimum efficiency standards for self-contained commercial refrigerators and
		  freezers, and to direct the Department of Energy to establish standards for
		  other related products.</official-title>

		<section id="HEB541EE6FC8045729F547B5596B92FD9" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Better Use of Refrigerator Regulations
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H0BB9A1C7C3CE4E1BACC7BD398D74CC5A" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Service over the
			 counter, self-contained, medium temperature commercial
			 refrigerators</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 342(c)
			 of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (42 U.S.C. 6313(c)) is
			 amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H975E30D05713488EBE15E53A551978D7"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (1)—</text>
				<subparagraph id="H5F2520EF7454489BB59D73CA09B5FA75"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating subparagraphs (B) and (C)
			 as subparagraphs (D) and (E), respectively; and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDF1B2D86B4CD42D98CDBE636F13B9DE0"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 subparagraph (A) the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0CD30901E19A4FA3A9C96629F61D7A69" style="OLC">
						<subparagraph id="H9442F477F91644949984416D7F211409" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>(SOC-SC-M)</quote> means a
				medium temperature commercial refrigerator—</text>
							<clause id="H360C84F450BD4F13901C0971E9DE961B"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">with a self-contained condensing unit and
				equipped with sliding or hinged doors in the back intended for use by sales
				personnel, and with glass or other transparent material in the front for
				displaying merchandise; and</text>
							</clause><clause id="H5BA2309F61CA4F0485C2D7E04BD17952"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>that has a height not greater than
				66 inches and is intended to serve as a counter for transactions between sales
				personnel and customers.</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H435FD3E2A9D143329EA3D2C59DF36700" indent="up1"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>TDA</quote> means the total
				display area (ft<superscript>2</superscript>) of the refrigerated case, as
				defined in Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute Standard
				1200.</text>
						</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>;</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HDF6A4CE9AC63444C8E5ABC9EA07639ED"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating paragraphs (4) and (5) as
			 paragraphs (5) and (6), respectively; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HB383082791524E8C9A6788DB90A4BDDA"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 paragraph (3) the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFB8C5B7E335C4ECBAAC7032C14E89F51" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="HCEBC7459D0744FB2ADC05B42CDE1CB13" indent="up1"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Each SOC-SC-M manufactured on or after the
				date which is 6 months after the date of enactment of the
				<short-title>Better Use of Refrigerator Regulations
				Act</short-title> shall have a total daily energy consumption (in kilowatt
				hours per day) of not more than 0.6 x TDA +
				1.0.</text>
