		<official-title>To direct the Secretary of Defense to issue a medal to
		  honor veterans of the Armed Forces who died after their service in the Vietnam
		  War, but whose deaths were a direct result of their service in the Vietnam
		  War.</official-title>

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HBEEDAD790A88472C917153D0DFF76976" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short Title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>In Memory Medal for Forgotten Veterans
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H82E0208B7A72406783D1CE564C7AAD99"><enum>2.</enum><header>Medal to honor
			 veterans of the Armed Forces who died as a result of their service in the
			 Vietnam War</header>
			<subsection id="HF38321D0EEE24FC486E7667F4A52CC1F"><enum>(a)</enum><header> Medal
			 Authorized</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There is
			 established a medal, to be known as the <quote>Jesus (Chuchi) Salgado
			 Medal</quote>, to be issued by the Secretary of Defense to honor each veteran
			 of the Armed Forces—</text>
				<paragraph id="H01345176E1DD4E6FA8DCA329E2333629"><enum>(1)</enum><text>who served in the
			 Vietnam War;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H68F6BD79CE3443B48CDB2AB48B72C0AF"><enum>(2)</enum><text>who died after
			 serving in the war, but whose death is determined by the Secretary of Defense
			 to be a direct result of that service; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H6283A8B5D4D8486090D2B70BDA39771F"><enum>(3)</enum><text>whose name is not
			 eligible for placement on the memorial wall of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
			 (as defined in section 5(f) of Public Law 96–297 (16 U.S.C. 431 note), as added
			 by section 1 of Public Law 106–214 (114 Stat. 336)).</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H286D6906BCBA4E3A91E8A1E73323CB49"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application and
			 Design</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of
			 Defense shall issue the Jesus (Chuchi) Salgado Medal upon receipt of an
			 application for the medal, submitted in accordance with such regulations as the
			 Secretary prescribes. The medal shall be of an appropriate design approved by
			 the Secretary.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H8B021670AD7E4D2FAE6BE4A623535693"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Issuance to
			 Representative of Deceased</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Jesus (Chuchi) Salgado Medal shall be
			 issued to the next-of-kin or representative of a veteran described in
			 subsection (a), as designated by the Secretary of Defense.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HA513BE3CBDB5476A9A08508554C82F22"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Assistance from
			 the Department of Veterans Affairs</header><text>The Secretary of Veterans
			 Affairs shall make available to the Secretary of Defense such records, and
			 otherwise provide such assistance, as the Secretary of Defense may require for
			 purposes of carrying out this section.</text>
