		  enhance and increase the number of veterinarians trained in veterinary public

		<section id="H8C2AB25B0B894754B4AC37B767F16E6D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Veterinary Public Health Amendments
			 Act of 2011</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HF1A49DE839B2459197A4F89248927492"><enum>2.</enum><header>Inclusion of
			 veterinary public health in certain public health workforce provisions</header>
			<subsection id="HC7625501900542D29B79134EBC6FEE52"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Public health
			 workforce grants</header><text>Subsections (b)(1)(A) and (d)(6) of section 765
			 of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/295">42 U.S.C. 295</external-xref>) are amended by
			 inserting <quote>veterinary public health,</quote> after <quote>preventive
			 medicine,</quote> each place it appears.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HF7FFEDBCC19B4089A773922B850C9065"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Public health
			 workforce loan repayment program</header>
				<paragraph id="H97CC1A35F0F0424FAD34EC04A9FC1D1A"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Subparagraphs (A) and (B) of section 776(b)(1) of the
			 Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/295f-1">42 U.S.C. 295f–1(b)(1)</external-xref>) are
			 amended by striking <quote>public health or health professions degree or
			 certificate</quote> each place it appears and inserting <quote>public health
			 (including veterinary public health) or health professions degree or
			 certificate</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H728FCB821A5648F5B7CD3956AAA6195A"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Technical
			 correction</header><text>Subparagraph (A) of section 776(b)(1) of the Public
			 Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/295f-1">42 U.S.C. 295f–1(b)(1)</external-xref>) is
			 amended by adding <quote>or</quote> at the end.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HA765F6177A50485DA80339392E0955D1"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>Section
			 799B of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/295p">42 U.S.C. 295p</external-xref>) is amended by
			 adding at the end the following:</text>

					<paragraph id="HC00724BE97FD46CB8C32C6E40474F0FA"><enum>(27)</enum><header>Veterinary
				public health</header><text>The term <term>veterinary public health</term>
				includes veterinarians engaged in one or more of the following areas to the
				extent such areas have an impact on human health: biodefense and emergency
				preparedness, emerging and reemerging infectious diseases, environmental
				health, ecosystem health, pre- and post-harvest food protection, regulatory
				medicine, diagnostic laboratory medicine, veterinary pathology, biomedical
				research, the practice of food animal medicine in rural areas, and government
				practice.</text>
