		<official-title>To amend the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010 to
		  preserve privilege for information submitted to the Bureau of Consumer
		  Financial Protection.</official-title>

		<section id="HECF77BB5A96944BDB57CF110C7600291" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Proprietary Information Protection Act of
			 2012</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H79D1AC3E11634C068FC89203BEFDFF8D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Disclosure to the
			 Bureau does not affect privilege</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1022(c)(6) of the Consumer Financial
			 Protection Act of 2010 (12 U.S.C. 5512(c)(6)) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H274F162711C6456BB60AD9FDA6100EED"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating
			 subparagraphs (B) and (C) as subparagraphs (C) and (D), respectively;
			 and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HC785B4E816E3400CA2C33A103141E67B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 subparagraph (A) the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H98BD6315C554438C9A483768E15A2653" style="OLC">
					<subparagraph id="HDFDBA693B50F4D77A442AC7FB1DE24E1"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Privileges Not
				Affected by Disclosure to the Bureau</header>
						<clause id="HADF67994A5864A71ACC7897F7A375EA7"><enum>(i)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text>The submission by any person of any information to the
				Bureau for any purpose in the course of any supervisory or regulatory process
				of the Bureau shall not be construed as waiving, destroying, or otherwise
				affecting any privilege such person may claim with respect to such information
				under Federal or State law as to any person or entity other than the
				Bureau.</text>
						</clause><clause id="H62A9369AD65946B08314842FD95B1680"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Rule of
				construction</header><text>No provision of clause (i) may be construed as
				implying or establishing that—</text>
							<subclause id="HA0D60ECCB0C544BAA7FA7B05C32229FA"><enum>(I)</enum><text>any person waives
				any privilege applicable to information that is submitted or transferred under
				any circumstance to which clause (i) does not apply; or</text>
							</subclause><subclause id="HC971D390318147818185EF9297C3D8B4"><enum>(II)</enum><text>any person would
				waive any privilege applicable to any information by submitting the information
				to the Bureau, but for this
				subparagraph.</text>
