		<official-title>To allow certain Indonesian citizens to file a motion to
		  reopen their asylum claims.</official-title>

		<section id="H71BB5E83F38345BB97C6CE5C9393C1B1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Indonesian Family Refugee Protection
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HA7DF33FDC064478E99033A69D111E5C1"><enum>2.</enum><header>Motion to reopen
			 asylum claims</header>
			<subsection id="HD730D5C246FE40499574A545F350C81D"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding
			 subparagraphs (B) and (C) of section 208(a)(2) of the Immigration and
			 Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1158(a)(2)) and section 240(c)(7) of such Act (8
			 U.S.C. 1229a(c)(7)), and notwithstanding any other provision of law on motions
			 to reopen removal or deportation proceedings, an alien may file one motion to
			 reopen an asylum claim during the 2-year period beginning on the date of the
			 enactment of this Act if the alien—</text>
				<paragraph id="H8FB4E4E3C6484F10941BD5C4F4D39C96"><enum>(1)</enum><text>is a citizen of
			 Indonesia;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HFC92821B4363429DBAC2A4B31094BED8"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">entered the United States after January 1,
			 1997, and before November 30, 2002;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HD8117B680BBE4C9F9EA3D975E880D1AB"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">filed an application for asylum that was
			 denied asylum based solely upon a failure to meet the 1-year application filing
			 deadline;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H89362E4E27D04B2983ECEC82CF9A5426"><enum>(4)</enum><text>is not subject to
			 the safe third country exception under section 208(a)(2)(A) of the Immigration
			 and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1158(a)(2)(A)); and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H6A683E0E690B41BDA505F67D8518C200"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is not subject to a bar from seeking asylum
			 under section 208(b)(2) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C.
			 1158(b)(2)).</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H2A8E1CAE56BE42AFA002809CD7027618"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application from
			 abroad</header><text>The motion to reopen referred to in subsection (a) may be
			 filed in the United States or from outside the United States.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H4F73ECACB4894558B08642C90496F394"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Return of
			 applicants abroad</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An alien
			 who meets the requirements under subsection (a) may be admitted or otherwise
			 authorized to enter the United States solely to prosecute a motion to reopen
			 under this section or otherwise to pursue relief under this section. Hearings
			 pursuant to this section may be held in the United States or abroad, with the
			 alien appearing in person or by video phone or similar device.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H5F10B5761170499B85A6818F6B36DF6E"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this Act, the terms used in
			 this Act shall have the same meanings given such terms in section 101(a) of the
			 Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101(a)).</text>
