		<official-title>To provide for the furnishing of statues by the District
		  of Columbia and territories of the United States for display in the United
		  States Capitol.</official-title>

		<section id="H691F5E4634C046F2A5514D299794D0FD" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Furnishing of statues for
			 united states capitol by district of columbia and territories</header>
			<subsection id="HD5BD6999891E43F8AEA51EDDB427CDC1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The President is
			 authorized to invite each jurisdiction described in section 4 to provide and
			 furnish a statue, in marble or bronze, of a deceased person who has been a
			 citizen of the jurisdiction, and illustrious for his or her historic renown or
			 for distinguished civic or military services, such as the jurisdiction may deem
			 to be worthy of this national commemoration; and when so furnished, the same
			 shall be placed in the United States Capitol.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HA75497D4AD624493BA45398F190C50D7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Limitation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No statue of any individual may be placed
			 in the United States Capitol pursuant to this Act until after the expiration of
			 the 10-year period which begins on the date of the individual's death.</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="H5A063CBAE6394399BC0A170BEE905AF9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Replacement of
			 statues</header>
			<subsection id="HF5A973A7054A4AFAA3CB150A6C482E8D"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Request by
			 jurisdiction</header>
				<paragraph id="HC698C457935346C8AED7C7A2E6BBEA96"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A jurisdiction
			 described in section 4 may request the Joint Committee on the Library to
			 approve the replacement of a statue the jurisdiction has provided for display
			 in the United States Capitol under section 1.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H15F95CA8392E402CAAEDEFB72214C6BF"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Conditions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A request shall be considered under
			 paragraph (1) only if—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H8638618B32FF4E86B193F4E53309CA4B"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the request has
			 been approved by a resolution adopted by the legislature of the jurisdiction
			 (or its equivalent) and the request has been approved by the chief executive of
			 the jurisdiction; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H98C50A288E4346DC999FB11A59BC113A"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the statue to be
			 replaced has been displayed in the United States Capitol for at least 10 years
			 as of the time the request is made, except that the Joint Committee may waive
			 this requirement for cause at the request of the jurisdiction.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H5EE5F2BAC85B4A168A6AA7A6AD8B2F0D"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Agreement upon
			 approval</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">If the Joint
			 Committee on the Library approves a request under subsection (a), the Architect
			 of the Capitol shall enter into an agreement with the jurisdiction involved to
			 carry out the replacement in accordance with the request and any conditions the
			 Joint Committee may require for its approval. Such agreement shall provide
			 that—</text>
				<paragraph id="H886DBB2C3DB14317A5631EE0C16D5D8C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the new statue
			 shall be subject to the same conditions and restrictions as apply to any statue
			 provided by the jurisdiction under section 1; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H0890175AD33B421C818EC422A46661EB"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the jurisdiction
			 shall pay any costs related to the replacement, including costs in connection
			 with the design, construction, transportation, and placement of the new statue,
			 the removal and transportation of the statue being replaced, and any unveiling
			 ceremony.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H3E669BED70B748BC9F332B129BF21270"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Limitation on
			 number of statues</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Nothing in
			 this section shall be interpreted to permit any jurisdiction described in
			 section 4 to have more than 1 statue on display in the United States
			 Capitol.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H087995375BAA427B990468D329195E6A"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Ownership of
			 replaced statues</header>
				<paragraph id="HF65E78628C2649C69BB6C2FDDB759B46"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Transfer of
			 ownership</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subject to the
			 approval of the Joint Committee on the Library, ownership of any statue
			 replaced under this section shall be transferred to the jurisdiction
			 involved.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HFC1C067798F74AF7A56CED4DE8571817"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Prohibiting
			 subsequent display in capitol</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">If any statue is removed from the United
			 States Capitol as part of a transfer of ownership under paragraph (1), it may
			 not be returned to the Capitol for display unless such display is specifically
			 authorized by Federal law.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section id="HD4B895C87459495D872010703D8FEC3E"><enum>3.</enum><header>Placement of
			 statues</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Architect of the
			 Capitol, upon the approval of the Joint Committee on the Library and with the
			 advice of the Commission of Fine Arts as requested, is authorized and directed
			 to provide for the reception, location, and relocation of any statues received
			 on or after the date of the enactment of this Act from a jurisdiction in
			 accordance with this Act.</text>
		</section><section id="HF031A29B0F0B4A28A3F7F261ABB497FF"><enum>4.</enum><header>Jurisdictions
			 described</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The jurisdictions
			 described in this section are as follows:</text>
			<paragraph id="H08EA5D836C104E879FA862313D8D9D6D"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The District of
			 Columbia.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H63381FCE60EA4EE68A61A42A429C4895"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The Commonwealth
			 of Puerto Rico.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H4CF184F9041F4691A7846F55D50EB5DC"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Guam.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HC82D3B27BB5E4474B8CCB60A938B1E36"><enum>(4)</enum><text>American
			 Samoa.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HB23C636147DF4E5682EB3DCD77B1DE2B"><enum>(5)</enum><text>The United States
			 Virgin Islands.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H18A66C99A50D426C84B65246FE393781"><enum>(6)</enum><text>The Commonwealth
			 of the Northern Mariana Islands.</text>
