		<official-title>To amend title 28 of the United States Code with respect
		  to proper venue for cases filed by corporations under <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/11/11">chapter 11</external-xref> of title 11 of
		  such Code.</official-title>

		<section id="HC22087C2F37743909AF6A7E0CB0F1DB8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Venue Reform Act
			 of 2011</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HEAD8ACCB16494155B8F0DBE8A9A27FBD"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendments</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/28/1408">Section 1408</external-xref> of title 28 of the United
			 States Code is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="HD6208C18564F42AA901ADAB325EEECE9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting
			 <quote>(a)</quote> before <quote>Except</quote>,</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H1FDD126CC0DD4AFE94B7ABEACAE195AE"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting
			 <quote>and subsection (b) of this section</quote> after <quote>this
			 title</quote>, and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HC79479A005114731BAE46BBA2B937399"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE49424213F634B7589F433C8A68DF0A0" style="traditional">
					<subsection id="H11EF8F0E99FE42CDAC593A54944AAF2E"><enum>(b)</enum><text>A case under
				<external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/11/11">chapter 11</external-xref> of title 11 in which the person that is the subject of the case is a
				corporation may be commenced only in the district court for the
				district—</text>
						<paragraph id="H64B546754A554C1CBB9309251D9A110F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in which the
				principal place of business in the United States, or principal assets in the
				United States, of such corporation have been located for 1 year immediately
				preceding such commencement, or for a longer portion of such 1-year period than
				the principal place of business in the United States, or principal assets in
				the United States, of such corporation were located in any other district;
				or</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="H804F50606F0F4084AF50278BE2E1AAA6"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in which there is pending a case under
				<external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/11/11">chapter 11</external-xref> of title 11 concerning an affiliate of such corporation, if the
				affiliate in such pending case directly or indirectly owns, controls, or holds
				with power to vote more than 50 percent of the outstanding voting securities of
				such
				corporation.</text>
						</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</paragraph></section><section commented="no" id="H58DC0BFF632B4260B95250EEB23CC431"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date;
			 application of amendments</header>
			<subsection commented="no" id="H40883F745C5F4B9B9F1FA27929D9842F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>Except as provided in subsection (b), this Act and the
			 amendments made by this Act shall take effect on the date of the enactment of
			 this Act.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" id="H8A8D16011A7F4E0D9B5698AD5BB8F0B4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application of
			 amendments</header><text>The amendments made by this Act shall apply only with
			 respect to cases commenced under title 11 of the United States Code on or after
			 the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
