		<official-title>To amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act
		  of 1968 to include fire police officers in the list of officers who are
		  eligible for public safety officers’ death benefits.</official-title>

		<section id="HF8D46A8EBDF54489913E3A77C80B96D5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Public safety officer death
			 benefits for fire police officers</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1204 of the Omnibus Crime Control
			 and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 3796b) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H16CAB3BC8C90425C82D063439B2D6DB9"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating paragraphs (5) through (9)
			 as paragraphs (6) through (10), respectively;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HC5563706C4CA4A7382A2AF46EEE8CFA5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph
			 (10)(A) (as so redesignated by paragraph (1) of this section), by inserting
			 <quote>as a fire police officer,</quote> after <quote>firefighter,</quote>;
			 and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H6D570286625E4E47B290BD1AC92B46ED"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 paragraph (4) the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H56F0BAE4474249E5A4DFC08D2F35E324" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H0C3A813E742F48F98178CA21A02F96BF"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><term>fire police officer</term> means an
				officially recognized or designated member of a volunteer fire police
				association or squad who is legally authorized by a State or local government
				to assist in event crowd control, scene control in emergencies, traffic control
				in emergencies, and missing person
				searches;</text>
