		<official-title>To amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to
		  prohibit the possession of a firearm by a person who is adjudicated to have
		  committed a violent act while a juvenile.</official-title>

		<section id="HEEB36515E76D4FCFB76136EE51B8A0C5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Preventing Gun Violence Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H6682DA4C863A4DC2A4EA21D9B9629423"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition on
			 possession of a firearm by a person who is adjudicated to have committed a
			 violent act while a juvenile</header>
			<subsection display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HCF29AAB6C2C840DCAC09D726F9CDA9C4"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Possession
			 ban</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 922(g) of title
			 18, United States Code, is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="HC87DF3FD62A546AC8FF4C5B2A34D58D0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>or</quote> at the end of paragraph (8);</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H9AA6D12CD52040428D3ABE56B16AD2E9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the
			 comma at the end of paragraph (9) and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H3E9AB59993634B41A4C77836A35593E9"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 paragraph (9) the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3450DA075E3D4AAF807BECFEF8CAD654" style="OLC">
						<paragraph id="H6DC8DC22249B4E30A61AF193624E2A97"><enum>(10)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">who has been adjudicated by a court of the
				United States to have committed a violent juvenile
				act,</text>
						</paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HA5F404FEB4C14928B9A5967D63165383"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Violent juvenile
			 act defined</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 921(a) of
			 such title is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7E811D0B0EBA422EA6E91BA507B46D96" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="HC2004A086EF4422ABEF7ABD1B1D361B1"><enum>(36)</enum><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H78BD13260EFE45BD8833A6A106E90EFF"><enum>(A)</enum><text>The term <term>violent
				juvenile act</term> means an act by a person before the person attains 18 years
				of age that, if committed by an adult, would be punishable by a term of
				imprisonment exceeding one year, and—</text>
							<clause id="H791683CCE31A409F853FCCA065EFC30E" indent="up1"><enum>(i)</enum><text>has as an element the use,
				attempted use, or threatened use of physical force against another person;
				or</text>
							</clause><clause id="HF17EC122C85040EEA9F975DD79EC151A" indent="up1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>that by its nature, involves a
				substantial risk that physical force against another person may be used in the
				course of committing the
				act.</text>
