<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H65E5539072C54CD398335FB54A2F7AA6" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Social Security Beneficiary Tax Reduction Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="H37891D0F608D4AAEAEC50D122A8D1611"><enum>2.</enum><header>Repeal of increase in tax on Social Security benefits</header> 
<subsection id="HD2C2FADF7A564F03B97AD9B7B4E05AE5"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Paragraph (2) of section 86(a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to social security and tier 1 railroad retirement benefits) is amended by adding at the end the following new sentence: <quote>This paragraph shall not apply to any taxable year beginning after December 31, 2010.</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H79F5E94D1BEE447B9E864034A03F16FE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendments</header> 
<paragraph id="H7D1177A2E3554ACA94E26BB6AD06A35E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Paragraph (3) of section 871(a) of such Code is amended by striking <quote>85 percent</quote> in subparagraph (A) and inserting <quote>50 percent</quote>.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HCD46C3B375E34AFEB0ABE69C1FCEFDDA"><enum>(2)</enum> 
<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H35979518F2AC4B09AEF27CBD03E1B93D"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Subparagraph (A) of section 121(e)(1) of the Social Security Amendments of 1983 (Public Law 98–21) is amended—</text> 
<clause id="H1E8ED676C24D4A10B0670D4D3CA7EDBC" indent="up1"><enum>(i)</enum><text>by striking <quote>(A) There</quote> and inserting <quote>There</quote>;</text></clause> 
<clause id="H6A48D08F2B71494993FE93EDE753BB0B" indent="up1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>by striking <quote>(i)</quote> immediately following <quote>amounts equivalent to</quote>; and</text></clause> 
<clause id="HCF62973D5BB34854A70E18619D3E7313" indent="up1"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>by striking <quote>, less (ii)</quote> and all that follows and inserting a period.</text></clause></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H001EFE4EA42E4387ACCB9929E3810EA3" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>Paragraph (1) of section 121(e) of such Act is amended by striking subparagraph (B).</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H56CE89F45F7147ABA3129BF8E2D4EABD" indent="up1"><enum>(C)</enum><text>Paragraph (3) of section 121(e) of such Act is amended by striking subparagraph (B) and by redesignating subparagraph (C) as subparagraph (B).</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H1602A83A65324F14A163B6DA19C1ACC9" indent="up1"><enum>(D)</enum><text>Paragraph (2) of section 121(e) of such Act is amended in the first sentence by striking <quote>paragraph (1)(A)</quote> and inserting <quote>paragraph (1)</quote>.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H3E7BFF9829A444799FCCF48987B5A535"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2010.</text></subsection></section>
