		<official-title>To amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act
		  of 1968 to extend public safety officers’ death benefits to fire police
		  officers.</official-title>

		<section id="H9241C87DB3DB40BFB65B23F42280EA90" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Fire Police Fairness Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HF36C20B4CE954B419039C2B0ADAD1289"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extending public
			 safety officer death benefits to fire police</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1204 of the Omnibus Crime Control
			 and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 3796b) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="HC4C4A85044264DDE9D9E7DDFBF02A5EC"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating paragraphs (5) through (9)
			 as paragraphs (6) through (10), respectively;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H2386371C0B454199824AC21A87EA090D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph
			 (10)(A) (as so redesignated by paragraph (1) of this section), by inserting
			 <quote>as a fire police officer,</quote> after <quote>firefighter,</quote>;
			 and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HCEA2B34291384606BDF6A5575C5D2471"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 paragraph (4) the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H244308B66C09464CA49A4AA9994F0722" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="HD9CA0821A82E4BFEA20FE9DDB4A36961"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><quote>fire police officer</quote> includes
				an individual who—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H0AAC9DDF47064EAF94275AF86E940399"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is serving in accordance with State or
				local law as an officially recognized or designated member of a legally
				organized public safety agency but is not a law enforcement officer, a
				firefighter, a chaplain, or a member of a rescue squad or ambulance crew
				described in paragraph (10)(A); and</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H52435B3A5F644762A78FBACF2AE6165C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>provides scene
				security or directs traffic—</text>
							<clause id="H79109DD48B1B43B0BFA66BA44A81B8CE"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in
				response to any fire drill, fire call, or other fire, rescue, or police
				emergency; or</text>
							</clause><clause id="H62F54E6A754A4B10AA0222CC0735157C"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>at a planned
				special
				event;</text>
							</clause></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
