		<official-title>To amend title 11 of the United States Code to include
		  firearms in the types of property allowable under the alternative provision for
		  exempting property from the estate.</official-title>

		<section id="H93520A01BAEB41999F535372EF3F0FCC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Protecting Gun Owners in Bankruptcy
			 Act of 2011</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H16EA19CD12A7464D9BB9C6BA482054FF" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exemptions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 522 of title 11, the United States
			 Code, is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H1D56DC81584A471F84771CD535BDD8CB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (d)
			 by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3F7E8A46F2A849A191D83C4692D453A4" style="traditional">
					<paragraph id="HA1EE10B9C4E4439AADD0E9C1F70186D2"><enum>(13)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The debtor's aggregate interest, not to
				exceed $3,000 in value, in a single rifle, shotgun, or pistol, or any
				combination thereof.</text>
					</paragraph><after-quoted-block>,
				and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HF22365C41CB84582A5CF79B5B89FD459"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subsection (f)(4)(A)—</text>
				<subparagraph id="H00ACA7DBC0024BFDB8D870419D8A52AE"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in clause (xiv) by
			 striking <quote>and</quote> at the end,</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC437FA64CD83475EB2A0E9FA959921DF"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in clause (xv) by
			 striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>, and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H4A03B74C79B141FBB5B8674F4C0A3BEB"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by adding at the
			 end the following:</text>

						<clause id="H6254743ED0E04570A254C02131B2E60C" indent="up2"><enum>(xvi)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The debtor's aggregate interest, not to
				exceed $3,000 in value, in a single rifle, shotgun, or pistol, or any
				combination
				thereof.</text>

				</subparagraph></paragraph></section><section id="H8259A1E0B81249CB8BD59383EA7F5F94"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date;
			 application of amendments</header>
			<subsection id="H46CC5396A3924B7DBDA721ACDD622DBB"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>Except as provided in subsection (b), this Act and the
			 amendments made by this Act shall take effect on the date of the enactment of
			 this Act.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H437454809BA0483FAF9F08B00C43C9D2"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application of
			 amendments</header><text>The amendments made by this Act shall apply only with
			 respect to cases commenced under title 11 of the United States Code on or after
			 the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
