		<whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas
			 Olympic Day celebrates the Olympic ideal of developing peace through
			 sport;</text>
		</whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas
			 June 23 marks the date on which the Congress of Paris approved the proposal of
			 Pierre de Coubertin to found the modern Olympics;</text>
		</whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas
			 thousands of people in more than 170 countries will celebrate the ideals of the
			 Olympic spirit on June 23, 2010;</text>
		</whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas
			 for more than a century, the Olympic movement has built a more peaceful and
			 better world by—</text>
			<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idB2FA8A2350E04633951C4D40DD638E45"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">educating young people through amateur
			 athletics;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id3F57DABD4784416CAE7AABECE8FEC030"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">bringing together athletes from many
			 countries in friendly competition; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idBDD05F8CB64941C28A3F8BC1D0B713C8"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">forging new relationships bound by
			 friendship, solidarity, and fair play;</text>
			</paragraph></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas
			 the United States Olympians and Paralympians continue to achieve competitive
			 excellence, preserve the Olympic ideals, and inspire all people of the United
			 States;</text>
		</whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas
			 community celebrations of Olympic Day improve the communities of the United
			 States and inspire the Olympic and Paralympic champions of tomorrow;</text>
		</whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas
			 Olympic Day encourages the development of Olympic and Paralympic sport in the
			 United States;</text>
		</whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas
			 Olympic Day encourages the youth of the United States to participate in and
			 support Olympic and Paralympic sport; and</text>
		</whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas, as of the date of approval of this
			 resolution, enthusiasm for Olympic and Paralympic sport is at an all-time high:
			 Now, therefore, be it</text>
		</whereas></preamble>
	<resolution-body display-resolving-clause="yes-display-resolving-clause" style="OLC">
		<section commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="S1" section-type="undesignated-section"><enum></enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the Senate—</text>
			<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id02147BDBB8644B0297FFB044A82798E7"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">designates June 23, 2010, as <quote>Olympic
			 Day</quote>;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id99B571E99B0A46BB84DF3530B85E425A"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">supports the goals and ideals of Olympic
			 Day; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idA9D2C4CE60FE476A9DAA6F380E5D8767"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">promotes—</text>
				<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id1A710857F9024D079387818509A3F193"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the fitness and well-being of all people of
			 the United States; and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idF37C159A6785498A93280160473DBC23"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Olympic ideals of fair play,
			 perseverance, respect, and sportsmanship.</text>
