		<official-title>To amend the National and Community Service Act of 1990
		  to establish a Veterans Corps program.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Veterans Corps</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 122(a) of the National and Community
			 Service Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 12572(a)) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="idEAA0075E321844BB86BAE527D2FBEBC6"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating paragraph (15) as
			 paragraph (16); and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id0F58B769025841AF8BB6218EFC060C43"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting
			 after paragraph (14) the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id213D7748790E4E33A8536DE869C4FB6E" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="HAAE75AC760C848EDB8E26FF993F87947"><enum>(15)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A Veterans Corps program that—</text>
						<subparagraph id="idFAEC92BD5B324AA2A1BF47482A2B5A17"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">identifies unmet needs of veterans through
				activities such as—</text>
							<clause id="id442D1A30FE8545F099E14B819CC98EC5"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">promoting community-based efforts to meet
				the unique needs of military families while a family member is deployed and
				upon that family member’s return home;</text>
							</clause><clause id="id04D4063AF4FE480D84B389824C55371C"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>recruiting
				veterans, particularly returning veterans, into service opportunities;</text>
							</clause><clause id="idD9368A07107F496095EBB3D47D9D0933"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>working to
				assist veterans in developing their educational opportunities, including
				opportunities for professional certification;</text>
							</clause><clause id="id063E39084CA1440482651FEBFE26BA48"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>promoting
				efforts within the community to serve the needs of veterans and active duty
				military members;</text>
							</clause><clause id="id9F0E2187E51B4C089D3336F3415BF9D3"><enum>(v)</enum><text>assisting
				veterans in developing mentoring relationships with economically disadvantaged
				students; and</text>
							</clause><clause id="id82A736C4EFC44DBE8E9C1F96B3F20335"><enum>(vi)</enum><text>developing
				projects to assist disabled and older veterans; and</text>
							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idF19DBE2184674301829155E4D5C955CD"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">establishes, and meets or exceeds,
				performance indicators relating to the activities described in subparagraph
				(A), including—</text>
							<clause id="H56B829880B3041B6ABC4881331C6A28B"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the number of housing units created for
				veterans;</text>
							</clause><clause id="HC8BB18F7041542E2B185F4D0F6F34D5D"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>the number of
				veterans who pursue educational opportunities;</text>
							</clause><clause id="HEDC4D10E74B648AFA596B49A2816FFCC"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>the number of
				veterans receiving professional certification;</text>
							</clause><clause id="H074A8CAE05BB4465AA7AA63DDAC51F6A"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>outreach efforts
				to service organizations serving the needs to veterans;</text>
							</clause><clause id="H469FFFF634EF4D289F756F8272285FF7"><enum>(v)</enum><text>the number of
				veterans engaged in service opportunities;</text>
							</clause><clause id="H866BBA77F176497FB059F68A38E94193"><enum>(vi)</enum><text>the number of
				military families assisted by organizations while the family member is deployed
				and when the family member returns from deployment;</text>
							</clause><clause id="HE69CFF3FDCEC4A1CBF32C897C2B67F86"><enum>(vii)</enum><text>the number of
				economically disadvantaged students engaged in mentoring relationships with
				veterans;</text>
							</clause><clause id="HA52533AA96714BF28206535EFDDF2641"><enum>(viii)</enum><text>projects
				designed to meet identifiable public needs with a specific emphasis on projects
				in support of veterans, especially disabled and older veterans;</text>
							</clause><clause id="H2A0A9D3DD32D4CFCBD9BE728741924DF"><enum>(ix)</enum><text>another indicator
				relating to education or skill attainment that assists in providing veterans
				with the skills to address identifiable public needs, that is approved by the
				Corporation; and</text>
							</clause><clause id="H5ED69A7BC1AF4E88969F5CF0E4C01411"><enum>(x)</enum><text>other additional
				indicators that improve the lives of veterans and families of individuals
				deployed in service, that the Corporation, in consultation with the Department
				of Veterans Affairs, establishes for a given
				year.</text>
