		<official-title display="yes">To amend the Social Security Act and the
		  Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to exempt certain employment as a member of a
		  local governing board, commission, or committee from social security tax
		  coverage.</official-title>

		<section id="id3FA408725D18495A9FC40063F78CE7C6" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Local Officials Tax Relief Act of
			 2009</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID54100EE4E08A40EBAE4DCD810AC4EB0B" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exemption of certain
			 local governing board employment from social security tax coverage</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDBFD7ABEB0B4E487E90CBBC4DB059CF32"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Amendment to
			 <act-name parsable-cite="SSA">Social Security Act</act-name></header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="act" parsable-cite="SSA/210(a)(7)(F)">Section 210(a)(7)(F)</external-xref> of the
			 <act-name parsable-cite="SSA">Social Security Act (42 U.S.C.
			 410(a)(7)(F))</act-name> is amended by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end of
			 clause (iv), by adding <quote>or</quote> at the end of clause (v), and by
			 inserting after clause (v) the following new clause:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id75F27E568E4C40BB9AC9B7C1C9F6995F" style="OLC">
					<clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDEB226BEDA67847AAB365A1E639EE4843"><enum>(vi)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by any elected or appointed member of a
				general governing board, commission, or committee of any political subdivision
				of a State for any calendar year commencing on or after January 1, 2010, if the
				remuneration paid in such calendar year for such service is not more than the
				amount in effect for an election official or an election worker under clause
				(iv) for such
				year.</text>

			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDF55EC566BF8143C182EEF14C2DA9B30E"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Amendment to
			 Internal Revenue Code of 1986</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3121(b)(7)(F) of the Internal
			 Revenue Code of 1986 (defining employment) is amended by striking
			 <quote>or</quote> at the end of clause (iv), by adding <quote>or</quote> at the
			 end of clause (v), and by inserting after clause (v) the following new
			 clause:</text>

					<clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id693BE90B21864A86ABDE6FA80BBA220F"><enum>(vi)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by any elected or appointed member of a
				general governing board, commission, or committee of any political subdivision
				of a State for any calendar year commencing on or after January 1, 2010, if the
				remuneration paid in such calendar year for such service is not more than the
				amount in effect for an election official or an election worker under clause
