			 <quote><short-title>Refugee Opportunity
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section changed="deleted" committee-id="SSJU00" id="id9AFE3DAA51A947EAAEF511EA51095001" reported-display-style="strikethrough" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exception to one-year
			 physical presence requirement for adjustment of status for aliens granted
			 asylum and employed overseas by the Federal Government</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 209 of the Immigration and
			 Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1159) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="id011BE5CE07A14C1D9F4FE6F5A213F096"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection
			 (a)(1)(B), by inserting <quote>(except as provided under subsection
			 (d))</quote> after <quote>one year</quote>;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id730D802BD36F44BB88413F489C558B15"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection
			 (b)(2), by inserting <quote>(except as provided under subsection (d)),</quote>
			 after <quote>asylum</quote>; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id09FDE0FE35A94143A80F781BBA844F0C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the
			 end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block changed="deleted" committee-id="SSJU00" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id89E718A890184B0EAACEBEEB7A86F324" reported-display-style="strikethrough" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="id99554C7784C94408B0F4E7E05DD437D1"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Exception to
				1-Year residency requirement for adjustment of status</header><text>An alien
				who does not meet the physical presence requirement under subsection (a)(1)(B)
				or (b)(2), but who otherwise meets the requirements under subsection (a) or (b)
				for adjustment of status to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent
				residence, shall be eligible for such adjustment of status if the alien did not
				meet the 1-year physical presence requirement because the alien was employed
				outside of the United States by the Federal Government or by a contractor of
				the Federal
				Government.</text>

			 physical presence requirement for adjustment of status for aliens granted
			 asylum and employed overseas by the Federal Government</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 209 of the Immigration and
			 Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1159) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="iddc338edd-bd74-4e5a-bd62-624a112852c2"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a)(1)(B),
			 by inserting <quote>(except as provided under subsection (d))</quote> after
			 <quote>one year</quote>;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id7667d650-7884-408c-8393-0201aa2094d6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (b)(2), by
			 inserting <quote>(except as provided under subsection (d)),</quote> after
			 <quote>asylum</quote>; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="idf03a8f95-1317-4daa-8f3d-0a14d476465b"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the
			 following:</text>
				<quoted-block changed="added" committee-id="SSJU00" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idD67F4DD02CBE444DB43EF095C992E512" reported-display-style="italic" style="OLC">
					<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id3CD6B766EBC94A5092EA6B6E254C7773"><enum>(d)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An alien who does not meet the 1-year
				physical presence requirement under subsection (a)(1)(B) or (b)(2), but who
				otherwise meets the requirements under subsection (a) or (b) for adjustment of
				status to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, may be
				eligible for such adjustment of status if the alien:</text>
						<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id87195A260E4F464D82756E66C4808774"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Is or was employed by the U.S. Government
				or a contractor of the U.S. Government overseas and performing work on behalf
				of the U.S. Government for the entire period of absence, which may not exceed 1
				year; or</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idF2E4183227B74269A7BFF0A1717EEE65"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Is or was employed by the U.S. Government
				or a contractor of the U.S. Government in the alien’s country of nationality or
				last habitual residence for the entire period of absence, which may not exceed
				1 year, and the alien was under the protection of the U.S. Government or a
				contractor while performing work on behalf of the U.S. Government during the
				entire period of employment; and</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="ID3f0638f0aeb44b839e35b47208c5af3d"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Returned immediately to
				the United States upon the conclusion of the
				employment.</text>
