		<official-title>To amend title 5, United States Code, to provide for the
		  transportation of the dependents, remains, and effects of certain Federal
		  employees who die while performing official duties or as a result of the
		  performance of official duties.</official-title>

		<section id="H8D688B63876F4D81A77722533C773105" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Special Agent Samuel Hicks Families of
			 Fallen Heroes Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H9299045EECA14B2AB50DD8B92D2F7B3C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Transportation of
			 dependents, remains, and effects of certain Federal employees</header>
			<subsection id="HA2A0E48F8BB14A8D9493BD3FE6A4FC84"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subchapter II of
			 chapter 57 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by inserting after
			 section 5724c the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H95BC40C498AC4CA2B94CD24EC5C75BE2" style="USC">
					<section id="H303D6070C71E47CE80F6D5697360C79E"><enum>5724d.</enum><header>Transportation
				of dependents, remains, and effects of certain Federal employees</header>
						<subsection id="HF88284A38AD0433A96298D0F18DC7A83"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Under regulations
				prescribed under section 5738 and when the head of the agency concerned (or a
				designee thereof) authorizes or approves, if a covered employee dies while
				performing official duties or as a result of the performance of official
				duties, the agency may pay from Government funds—</text>
							<paragraph id="HE6A65DE16E544BA9B4E272FFFEF70EC0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the qualified
				expenses of the immediate family of the employee, if the place where the family
				will reside following the death of the employee is—</text>
								<subparagraph id="H84B8E90A7F374894B98433DBC2652239"><enum>(A)</enum><text>different from the
				place where the family resided at the time of the employee’s death; and</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H686BA52C21A1425696A338168A7E65D4"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">within the United States; and</text>
								</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H62A85682074D425D9FDF1FA1B8325998"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the expenses of
				preparing and transporting the remains of the deceased to—</text>
								<subparagraph id="HEE581A1A9D40474087AA7AA5A5CE9B50"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the place where
				the immediate family will reside following the death of the employee; or</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDB762C99D834444A8D7FA470DF6F29D1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>such other place,
				appropriate for interment, as is determined by the agency head (or
				designee).</text>
								</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H761A4612B1A34ECC8317D71ABA47BF44"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Qualified
				expenses</header><text>For purposes of this section, the term <term>qualified
				expenses</term>, as used with respect to a family changing its place of
				residence, means the moving expenses, transportation expenses, and relocation
				expenses of the family which are attributable to the change in place of
				residence.</text>
						</subsection><subsection id="H38A6512540814EE1BEDADEB29199D735"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>For
				purposes of this section—</text>
							<paragraph id="HC1AAE5C9C8B7423C966630A2543F450C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the term
				<quote>covered employee</quote> means—</text>
								<subparagraph id="HB341E311518144F6870F7D12C6709B73"><enum>(A)</enum><text>a law enforcement
				officer, as defined in section 5541;</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H59F1E43D90424C039376DEAE83F0C852"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any employee in or
				under the Federal Bureau of Investigation who is not described in subparagraph
				(A); and</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id2713E1B38FC64B32947323A96091FB49"><enum>(C)</enum><text>a customs and
				border protection officer, as defined in section 8331(31);</text>
								</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H1E48C95437EB45EDAC6DE6C856DD136C"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the term
				<term>moving expenses</term>, as used with respect to a family, includes the
				expenses of transporting, packing, crating, temporarily storing, draying, and
				unpacking the household goods and personal effects of such family, not in
				excess of 18,000 pounds net weight; and</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="H24F9CBA6B1E648C28EF329CFEA605A27"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the term
				<term>relocation expenses</term> has the meaning given such term under
				regulations prescribed under section 5738, including relocation expenses and
				relocation services described in sections 5724a and 5724c,
				respectively.</text>
							</paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H823A1C99E8E045A8918C1790B22CED1C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical
			 amendment</header><text>The analysis for chapter 57 of title 5, United States
			 Code, is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 5724c the
			 following:</text>
