		<official-title>To amend the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley
		  National Heritage Corridor Act of 1994 to increase the authorization of
		  appropriations and modify the date on which the authority of the Secretary of
		  the Interior terminates under the Act. </official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers
			 Valley National Heritage Corridor Amendments Act of
			 2009</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idcdea6bd9-840d-40e6-956c-85b84f42f146" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley
			 National Heritage Corridor</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id479f7037-d3f1-4353-8896-712553ef2b04"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Termination of authority</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 106(b) of the Quinebaug and
			 Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor Act of 1994 (16 U.S.C. 461
			 note; Public Law 103–449) is amended by striking <quote>September 30,
			 2009</quote> and inserting <quote>September 30, 2015</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id864259CF28A2499CB7CC2B2D38EF5AB6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Evaluation;
			 report</header><text>Section 106 of the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley
			 National Heritage Corridor Act of 1994 (16 U.S.C. 461 note; Public Law 103–449)
			 is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idF4C0A150D3094F01AF6087953CA974A0" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="id2A5172334BB841B297CA3E38754E4DB9"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Evaluation;
				report</header>
						<paragraph id="idEFB21AC024144AE4829454C3B737DF0A"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text>Not later than 3 years before the date on which authority
				for Federal funding terminates for the Corridor, the Secretary shall—</text>
							<subparagraph id="id84E32CDC688D4337AD405290EDF78875"><enum>(A)</enum><text>conduct an
				evaluation of the accomplishments of the Corridor; and</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id3C5E35BC9C4842D5B0EA7122DE6C4C7D"><enum>(B)</enum><text>prepare a report
				in accordance with paragraph (3).</text>
							</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id66095AE331F643B1A4D748636BCAB107"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Evaluation</header><text>An
				evaluation conducted under paragraph (1)(A) shall—</text>
							<subparagraph id="idDC175EFB5BE94C9AA6DCF3CA278C95F6"><enum>(A)</enum><text>assess the
				progress of the management entity with respect to—</text>
								<clause id="id1F9E328E415446EC950D2302CB53C11E"><enum>(i)</enum><text>accomplishing the
				purposes of this title for the Corridor; and</text>
								</clause><clause id="id30EA3B0AFE7947C59CA660D2C7EBD55C"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>achieving the
				goals and objectives of the management plan for the Corridor;</text>
								</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id092832C069854056908ED6FB27F15230"><enum>(B)</enum><text>analyze the
				Federal, State, local, and private investments in the Corridor to determine the
				leverage and impact of the investments; and</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id4A8AA12601A144D9AF0DABAAA55D436D"><enum>(C)</enum><text>review the
				management structure, partnership relationships, and funding of the Corridor
				for purposes of identifying the critical components for sustainability of the
				Corridor.</text>
							</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id02C23250A8EF476A80689512DF69EF0D"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Report</header>
							<subparagraph id="id2AE05D4D9D164B2080BE723736CD757E"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text>Based on the evaluation conducted under paragraph (1)(A),
				the Secretary shall prepare a report that includes recommendations for the
				future role of the National Park Service, if any, with respect to the
				Corridor.</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="idF1C2EF547EC04C3C828B919FF390C91D"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Required
				analysis</header><text>If the report prepared under subparagraph (A) recommends
				that Federal funding for the Corridor be reauthorized, the report shall include
				an analysis of—</text>
								<clause id="idDD9D0BC53D444D99AED65FB7A6A32D3F"><enum>(i)</enum><text>ways in which
				Federal funding for the Corridor may be reduced or eliminated; and</text>
								</clause><clause id="idF352C9682F284C45AEA96EEF2AEC8B12"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>the appropriate
				time period necessary to achieve the recommended reduction or
				elimination.</text>
								</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idE76791FA4A9F41419E3540AA6A7B3C16"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Submission to
				congress</header><text>On completion of the report, the Secretary shall submit
				the report to—</text>
								<clause id="idBB906CCB91634BF7A3656ACB77E4F946"><enum>(i)</enum><text>the Committee on
				Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate; and</text>
								</clause><clause id="idFD5498130B2C43FD8AA3D78A02E3AA25"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>the Committee on
				Natural Resources of the House of
				Representatives.</text>
								</clause></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7cf037f9-e872-4be8-8747-ad92d36ca6d5"><enum>(c)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Authorization of
			 appropriations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 109(a)
			 of the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor Act of
			 1994 (16 U.S.C. 461 note; Public Law 103–449) is amended by striking
			 <quote>$10,000,000</quote> and inserting <quote>$15,000,000</quote>.</text>
