		<official-title>To designate the Beaver Basin Wilderness at Pictured
		  Rocks National Lakeshore in the State of Michigan.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>Beaver Basin Wilderness
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="ID17dd5f43c496427894f4c12b5f73bdcf"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress finds that—</text>
			<paragraph id="idD441B9661F8A4F17A4F63CE1E484EC42"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">since 1981, the National Park Service has
			 managed the land designated as the Beaver Basin Wilderness by section 4(a) as a
			 backcountry and wilderness area;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id9EF3B66A366F46EAA19693B0DAC5004A"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the land designated by section 4(a) as the
			 Wilderness comprises approximately 16 percent of the area of Pictured Rocks
			 National Lakeshore;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="idD8C9A53506574BC08D459EE884A10485"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the decision to propose this portion of the
			 National Lakeshore as wilderness was made after 5 years of planning, which
			 involved extensive public involvement and culminated in the approval of a new
			 general management plan in 2004; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id87E6BA94899C40EEA0B85D503AE0E388"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the fundamental
			 manner in which the land designated as Wilderness by section 4(a) is managed
			 for purposes of access, public use, and enjoyment will not change as a result
			 of this designation.</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="id91EA96D738A54F85B7783A21B7ED39F6"><enum>3.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text>
			<paragraph id="ID02b6e7bda6ac44929cde6f7b9e4bbc8e"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Line of
			 demarcation</header><text>The term <term>line of demarcation</term> means the
			 point on the bank or shore at which the surface waters of Lake Superior meet
			 the land or sand beach, regardless of the level of Lake Superior.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="ID09f0e470158d4257a2ee209b622f5dc6"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Map</header><text>The
			 term <term>map</term> means the map entitled <quote>Pictured Rocks National
			 Lakeshore Beaver Basin Wilderness Boundary</quote>, numbered 625/80,051, and
			 dated April 16, 2007.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id6297F4791989489B93ED4871656962DB"><enum>(3)</enum><header>National
			 Lakeshore</header><text>The term <term>National Lakeshore</term> means the
			 Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="ID2c28f7993cf147b7b5f37c21e10489b3"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The
			 term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of the Interior.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id7BDDA3191DDA4C649C47C3ACE56520BC"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Wilderness</header><text>The
			 term <term>Wilderness</term> means the Beaver Basin Wilderness designated by
			 section 4(a).</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="ID8c0af130917543dd92d7eb7cdc56e27d"><enum>4.</enum><header>Designation of
			 Beaver Basin Wilderness</header>
			<subsection id="IDf7c0d7e425f74ef5b8f76fdb1515e454"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>In accordance with the Wilderness Act (16 U.S.C. 1131 et
			 seq.), the land described in subsection (b) is designated as wilderness and as
			 a component of the National Wilderness Preservation System, to be known as the
			 <quote>Beaver Basin Wilderness</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="idD64469D1F5BF4F9EA86A2D8870065760"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Description of
			 land</header><text>The land referred to in subsection (a) is the land and
			 inland water comprising approximately 11,740 acres within the National
			 Lakeshore, as generally depicted on the map.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id800A95BC9D434112B47BB0528C39095C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Boundary</header>
				<paragraph id="idB45A33AC23334049B28C2E3255C57B41"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Line of
			 demarcation</header><text>The line of demarcation shall be the boundary for any
			 portion of the Wilderness that is bordered by Lake Superior.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="id23D231FB34FA4A648D0EA14B219EEAC2"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Surface
			 water</header><text>The surface water of Lake Superior, regardless of the
			 fluctuating lake level, shall be considered to be outside the boundary of the
			 Wilderness.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="ID72e092a49c0340c3a3952ac37e28c4fd"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Map and legal
			 description</header>
				<paragraph id="ID15bbc1465db7474c99d58a6f81e3fa69"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Availability of
			 map</header><text>The map shall be on file and available for public inspection
			 in the appropriate offices of the National Park Service.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="ID44dc17d7271c4e3b87d499263a2c1c70"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Legal
			 description</header><text>As soon as practicable after the date of enactment of
			 this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Energy and Natural
			 Resources of the Senate and the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of
			 Representatives a legal description of the boundary of the Wilderness.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="ID7407aa811d214de895ca21b6a4d20310"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Force and
			 effect</header><text>The map and the legal description submitted under
			 paragraph (2) shall have the same force and effect as if included in this Act,
			 except that the Secretary may correct any clerical or typographical errors in
			 the map and legal description.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section id="ID56805227463d4ae1a6688122e81db197"><enum>5.</enum><header>Administration</header>
			<subsection id="ID5b2f7a25e43542acb00fc1c92f3cb5ea"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Management</header><text>Subject
			 to valid existing rights, the Wilderness shall be administered by the Secretary
			 in accordance with the Wilderness Act (16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.), except
			 that—</text>
				<paragraph id="IDf610161e9d2342b3943fcbd224be50e9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>any reference in
			 that Act to the effective date of that Act shall be considered to be a
			 reference to the date of enactment of this Act; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="ID8a9053dff0e541dcb284d05e3a5ad208"><enum>(2)</enum><text>with respect to
			 land administered by the Secretary, any reference in that Act to the Secretary
			 of Agriculture shall be considered to be a reference to the Secretary.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="IDf01c7b4e57054b2c8206322f77780ba7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Use of electric
			 motors</header><text>The use of boats powered by electric motors on Little
			 Beaver and Big Beaver Lakes may continue, subject to any applicable laws
			 (including regulations).</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="ID7f3bcc858427400b8a48b177bef9a848"><enum>6.</enum><header>Effect</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Nothing in this Act—</text>
			<paragraph id="ID02fb3f2bb2374020bf9814638aedecea"><enum>(1)</enum><text>modifies, alters,
			 or affects any treaty rights;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="ID921645cb044e40f7850f756f7a6c1415"><enum>(2)</enum><text>alters the
			 management of the water of Lake Superior within the boundary of the Pictured
			 Rocks National Lakeshore in existence on the date of enactment of this Act;
			 and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="ID619b67ab209c4b0984b6b2ec7380770e"><enum>(3)</enum><text>prohibits—</text>
				<subparagraph id="id1FC58966AE624678A32FB78E8C194DD5"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the use of motors
			 on the surface water of Lake Superior adjacent to the Wilderness; or</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id00CD0ABA9D0F4615ACA4B8D0EC1A1F24"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the beaching of
			 motorboats at the line of demarcation.</text>
				</subparagraph></paragraph></section></legis-body>
