<legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type> 
<official-title display="yes">Honoring Latinos for their continual service and sacrifice as members of the United States Armed Forces.</official-title>

<preamble> 
<whereas><text>Whereas Latinos have served in every United States military conflict since the Revolutionary War;</text> </whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas 149,411 Latinos are currently serving as active duty members in the United States Armed Services;</text> </whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas 80,051 Latinos are currently serving in the United States Reserves;</text> </whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas 28,009 Latinos are currently deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan;</text> </whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas 466 Latinos have lost their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom and 2,007 Latinos have been wounded; and</text> </whereas>
<whereas><text>Whereas 100 Latinos have lost their lives in Operation Enduring Freedom and 408 Latinos have been wounded in action: Now, therefore, be it</text> </whereas></preamble>

<section display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H67CE7F29BCB14B95B39EBC385A5A66E2" section-type="undesignated-section"><enum></enum><text>That the House of Representatives—</text> 
<paragraph id="H47F9C0CA7A3146D592A5693C546711FE"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">honors Latinos for their continued service in the United States Armed Forces;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="HCABD205E7E4745A9BDC3649921D19854"><enum>(2)</enum><text>recognizes the past service of Latino members of the United States Armed Forces who have sacrificed their lives in order to defend the freedom and democracy of the United States;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H8993135F79F0462CB1B928D1439191B2"><enum>(3)</enum><text>commends leading Latino members of the United States Armed Forces for their long-time commitment to securing and defending the United States;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H8A7A8B2761294DCEA7B2975D5A8F8CB0"><enum>(4)</enum><text>recognizes the significant role of Latino members of the United States Armed Forces to the success of ongoing military operations; and</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="HB3D92BD4222B4301B7E0EF14408D1AB7"><enum>(5)</enum><text>urges the Secretary of Defense to support and encourage the Latino members of the United States Armed Forces and promote leadership amongst them.</text> </paragraph></section>
