<official-title display="yes">To amend the Rules of the House of Representatives to prohibit bills and joint resolutions from containing more than one subject.</official-title>

<section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="HB497D03906B14B7788237657B1CD82F0"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That </text> 
<subsection id="H42B23DE910624E31A100DBE58EF36F68" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum>(a)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">rule XXI of the Rules of the House of Representatives is amended by adding at the end the following new clause—</text>

<rules-clause id="HD8B04E480929404BA5EE5D0E36B04784"><enum>11.</enum> 
<rules-paragraph id="HB835315A539B42748DDCBE5BE01407E7" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum>(a)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No bill, joint resolution, or amendment to any bill or joint resolution that contains more than a single subject may be received or considered in the House. A question of order on the number of subjects in any such bill, joint resolution, or amendment thereto, may be raised at any time.</text></rules-paragraph> 
<rules-paragraph id="HE93E20EFAF984416BEF799F4B4EF3F15" indent="up1"><enum>(b)</enum><text>The single subject of any bill or joint resolution shall be expressed in the title.</text></rules-paragraph> 
<rules-paragraph id="H3984D7242138450C8E1006194D1DD876" indent="up1"><enum>(c)</enum><text>Paragraphs (a) and (b) do not apply to a bill, joint resolution, or amendment thereto that complies, consolidates, revises, or rearranges the statutory law.</text></rules-paragraph></rules-clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H7784301CB19940F0A3E4F8FE633B3669"><enum>(b)</enum><text>The amendment made by this resolution shall take effect immediately before noon, January 3, 2011.</text></subsection></section>
