		<section id="HEBA1691DE00F401BAB00A500E4C6AB12" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Student Internet Safety Act of
			 2009</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HB0BABEB05CDB40798C281634B6E208D4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Promoting the
			 safe use of the Internet by students</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Each local educational agency that receives
			 funds under part D of title II of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of
			 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/6751">20 U.S.C. 6751
			 et seq.</external-xref>) or part A of title IV of such Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7101">20 U.S.C. 7101 et
			 seq.</external-xref>) may use such funds to develop and implement programs that
			 promote the safe use of the Internet by students, such as programs that—</text>
			<paragraph id="H98EAA5A2669B4B2982851219F3D649F8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>educate students
			 about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with individuals on
			 social networking Web sites and in chat rooms;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H101CD7DD90F44A9BB2BCCD941D57B48D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>protect students
			 against online predators, cyberbullying, or unwanted exposure to inappropriate
			 material; or</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HE732A6D659E043E99E45FA658C279FCA"><enum>(3)</enum><text>promote
			 involvement by parents in the use of the Internet by their children.</text>
