		<official-title>To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to exempt
		  certain emergency medical devices from the excise tax on medical
		  devices.</official-title>

		<section id="H5904AABA51384D96A95B3C751F592FC7" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Repealing first responders
			 emergency medical equipment tax</header>
			<subsection id="H3E0642CEC01F407EA861B06E05DDE47D"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Paragraph (2) of
			 section 4191(b) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by striking
			 <quote>and</quote> at the end of subparagraph (C), by redesignating
			 subparagraph (D) as subparagraph (E), and by inserting after subparagraph (C)
			 the following new subparagraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA9FD9CB458A844F894D7E66E1AC58A84" style="OLC">
					<subparagraph id="H657C1A8891DA434C9176BF03E99B2F89"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">qualified emergency medical devices,
				and</text>
					</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H7F46F653036B4EB183DA655A13DE8F66"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Qualified
			 emergency medical device</header><text>Subsection (b) of section 4191 of such
			 Code is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3FB3E363C67E4A89BA23C693276E650B" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H72F32D7866484365A4FE414D39B592BE"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Qualified
				emergency medical device</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The
				term <quote>qualified emergency medical device</quote> means any medical device
				of a type furnished by first responders or ambulance services in providing
				out-of-hospital or pre-hospital care, or transport to a medical care facility,
				for individuals—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H3B18ED3B7F1540E09FBA6D74F5706174"><enum>(A)</enum><text>with illnesses,
				injuries, or other medical emergencies, or</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HD3B027C280E4417D8C37C81F7D83DE0A"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in need of medical
				transport, extrication, or
				evacuation.</text>
						</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H3C1EE73B98B54B7CA0575FC122B0BE0E"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Certain
			 exemptions made applicable</header>
				<paragraph id="HC6B17E5747614ED2B9990233619471AC"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The last sentence
			 of subsection (a) of section 4221 of such Code is amended by striking
			 <quote>(4),</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H5CFD5DC501094A579118B63A361D0215"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The last sentence of paragraph (2) of
			 section 6416(b) of such Code is amended by striking <quote>(C),</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H2E4E47175DB643FEB452D4935553F854"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to sales
			 after December 31, 2012.</text>
