		<section id="H71157CD30C5345E49F6107DF1C0697C0" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Guaranteeing Airport Physical
			 Screening Standards Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H1173CAC6CADB451F8CC2DFFC89F50205"><enum>2.</enum><header>Secured areas of
			 airports</header>
			<subsection id="H0CE785EB9F5740C18BF48851839D6B72"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Implementation
			 of improved airport perimeter access security</header><text>Not later than 1
			 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Assistant Secretary of
			 Homeland Security (Transportation Security Administration) shall issue
			 regulations, directives, or other appropriate measures to implement the
			 requirements of section 44903(h)(4) of title 49, United States Code.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H19595C222160461699493E6F9E83BFF9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Airport security
			 plans</header><text>The Assistant Secretary shall set a schedule for requiring
			 airports to update their airport security plans to comply with the requirements
			 of section 44903(h)(4) not later than 3 years after the issuance of the
			 regulations, directives, or other measures required under subsection
			 (a).</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="H7B71348B771F4222A67A3BCF3B042917"><enum>3.</enum><header>Hiring of
			 screeners</header>
			<subsection id="H909F953713104E4DAD010B78FC1D8DD1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Number of
			 screeners</header><text>Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the
			 Secretary of Homeland Security may hire the number of passenger and baggage
			 screeners that the Secretary determines necessary to ensure aviation
			 security.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H630412AD85F8435C8DC69F5BD21F3801"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Authorization of
			 appropriations</header><text>There are authorized to be appropriated such sums
			 as may be necessary to carry out this section.</text>
