		<official-title>To amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to
		  require the owner or lawful possessor of a firearm to report its theft or
		  loss.</official-title>

		<section id="H0C745E2A0F524937BCB50F6430077CA9" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Firearm Owners Responsibility
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HE3F0568E996A4980896F27DF5C810D93"><enum>2.</enum><header>Requirement that
			 owner or lawful possessor of a firearm report its theft or loss</header>
			<subsection id="H9A46511DEE8D4FC1BEA57FF86A4853D0"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Prohibition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 922 of title 18, United States
			 Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB8A535C7CAB64154851F579F3C1E7805" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="H18B1B2880EC649F8A7FDD906551DE2FF"><enum>(aa)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">It shall be unlawful for any person who
				lawfully possesses or owns a firearm that has been shipped or transported in,
				or has been possessed in or affecting, interstate or foreign commerce, to fail
				to report the theft or loss of the firearm, within 72 hours after the person
				discovers the theft or loss, to the Attorney General and to the appropriate
				local
				authorities.</text>
					</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H76770547D0FB4FDBAD6AF4334F012EAC"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Penalties</header><text>Section
			 924(a)(5) of such title is amended by striking <quote>(s) or (t)</quote> and
			 inserting <quote>(t) or (aa)</quote>.</text>
