		<official-title>To require the Secretary of Defense to identify areas on
		  military installations and certain other properties as acceptable,
		  unacceptable, or unassessed regarding their suitability for placement of
		  geothermal, wind, solar photovoltaic, or solar thermal trough systems, and for
		  other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="H69684609F9974DEBB8F3CABA3BE3DF8F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Department of Defense Alternative
			 Energy Mapping Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H78A5C6B1DC104DAFBAF43C3962C4339E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Identification of
			 locations for alternative energy systems on military installations and certain
			 other lands</header>
			<subsection id="H3D95566C3C0A4AC3A94A77D7A0CE9FAC"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Maps
			 required</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of
			 Defense shall prepare, in a timely manner, maps of military installations and
			 eligible adjacent property that classify locations on the installations and
			 property as acceptable, unacceptable, or unassessed regarding their suitability
			 for the placement of geothermal, wind, solar photovoltaic, or solar thermal
			 trough systems.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H4723615BD7C94AAAB45A86863493FDF9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Cooperation with
			 industry</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of
			 Defense may enter into agreements with entities involved in the production or
			 installation of alternative energy systems described in subsection (a) to
			 utilize their expertise and to share the costs of preparing the maps under
			 subsection (a).</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H2B357D0D01F94ACEBB089310F0430545"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Dissemination of
			 maps</header><text>The Secretary of Defense shall disseminate the map prepared
			 under subsection (a) for a military installation and its adjoining property to
			 the following:</text>
				<paragraph id="HF44A067235E940D6B85FB3690C978E40"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Congress.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H73731F32BA3D430387446936C7D3FDC6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The State in which
			 the installation is located.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HB63CFC1690BF414D91F681D9F6255F9C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Local governments
			 having jurisdiction over eligible adjacent land that is depicted on the
			 map.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H686363033D1A45F38FED7B2531F753C4"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The owner or owners of any private property
			 adjacent to the military installation that is depicted on the map.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HFBEFB869B0AF49758ED79D9773609549"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In
			 this section:</text>
				<paragraph id="H7B7E9DCCBC674FDF9400E9B07336F009"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Military
			 installation</header><text>The term <term>military installation</term> has the
			 meaning given that term in 2687(e) of title 10, United States Code.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H5C1F7591395D4453ABBEB994D7F38A83"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Eligible
			 adjacent property</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term
			 <term>eligible adjacent property</term> means—</text>
					<subparagraph id="HE59C088AFD3844D8B4D85482551140CF"><enum>(A)</enum><text>real property of
			 the United States that is adjacent to a military installation;</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H5A0562F5361C4B2C9A83EB7E834F1C5D"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">real property of a State or local
			 government that is adjacent to a military installation; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HED55C4B00E1A47EC97C3F5DA52BB859C"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">private property that is adjacent to a
			 military installation, but only if the owner of the private property consents
			 to the inclusion of the property on the map.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body>
