		<official-title>To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to require
		  individuals to provide their Social Security number in order to claim the
		  refundable portion of the child tax credit.</official-title>

		<section id="HBAE232750A454D7EB618571BABBD2BF3" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Refundable Child Tax Credit
			 Eligibility Verification Reform Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H119908CBB424455C8CEF01E35A4DF271"><enum>2.</enum><header>Social Security
			 number required to claim the refundable portion of the child tax
			 credit</header>
			<subsection id="HED390D0568334BA1A11D617613059378"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (d) of
			 section 24 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by adding at the end
			 the following new paragraph:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HEC518FA27790412E9BBBBDA618BEA9F2" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="HEFA522411EF145A4A86B1A0A2E86A52D"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Identification
				requirement with respect to taxpayer</header>
						<subparagraph id="H1AEA12D831CA4C4DB730A0327815E0FB"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text>Paragraph (1) shall not apply to any taxpayer for any
				taxable year unless the taxpayer includes the taxpayer’s Social Security number
				on the return of tax for such taxable year.</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HEFF8B05F21444BB5A986F5D84934BBD0"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Joint
				returns</header><text>In the case of a joint return, the requirement of
				subparagraph (A) shall be treated as met if the Social Security number of
				either spouse is included on such return.</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H89318DC5358F4A52AB3F522ADCB79BFF"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Omission treated
				as mathematical or clerical error</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any failure to meet the requirement of
				subparagraph (A) shall be treated as a mathematical or clerical error and
				assessed according to section 6213(b)(1).</text>
						</subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="HE965C9B136DE47B392A18BBB964DD965"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming
			 amendment</header><text>Subsection (e) of section 24 of such Code is amended by
			 inserting <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">with respect to
			 qualifying children</header-in-text></quote> after <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">Identification requirement</header-in-text></quote> in the heading
			 thereof.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HA06E74854ECF437C8FEC57029B7F1FDD"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to taxable
			 years beginning after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
