		<official-title>To amend title 49, United States Code, to establish a
		  10-year term of office for any individual appointed as the Assistant Secretary
		  of Homeland Security (Transportation Security Administration), and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="HE2A1F45BFD7845DE8FD2E9CC0B228D1E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Appointment of Assistant
			 Secretary of Homeland Security (Transportation Security
			 Administration)</header>
			<subsection id="H244CD4EC26F0448BB05BC8A008ADA472"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 114(b) of
			 title 49, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H628CC7DBAE694DAB9B57BE52663EA376" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="H76D1713E93B742CD9D5FDA9DAA5F5A51"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Appointment;
				term of office</header>
						<paragraph id="HEDB83460A7884EF49C43DE1550336FD0"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Appointment</header><text>The
				head of the Administration shall be the Assistant Secretary of Homeland
				Security (Transportation Security Administration). The Assistant Secretary
				shall be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the
				Senate.</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="H6E37E24790734BDB8913D8393A574AE3"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Qualifications</header><text>The
				Assistant Secretary must—</text>
							<subparagraph id="H11AF967F4D23409498B9CA56F70F7A85"><enum>(A)</enum><text>be a citizen of
				the United States; and</text>
							</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HE150264188AE4839A6956A7DF4DB9423"><enum>(B)</enum><text>have experience in
				a field directly related to transportation or security.</text>
							</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H20CECCEB0D42411691DEFA272D5F8D06"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Term of
				office</header><text>The term of office of an individual appointed as the
				Assistant Secretary shall be 10 years. An Assistant Secretary may not serve
				more than one 10-year
				term.</text>
						</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="H13017EEEB53F436186AA16D316412E43"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Technical
			 amendments</header><text>Section 114 of such title is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="HA5CA857821514AB1875D2700A4B472F7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a)
			 by striking <quote>Department of Transportation</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>Department of Homeland Security</quote>;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HADA397299F2C4BF6BA3B02529C679B1D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in the heading for
			 subsection (m)(1) by striking <quote><header-in-text level="paragraph" style="OLC">under secretary</header-in-text></quote> and inserting
			 <quote><header-in-text level="paragraph" style="OLC">assistant
			 secretary</header-in-text></quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HC6E748AB28F740F285D751DDF9B15B50"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>Under Secretary</quote> each place it appears and inserting
			 <quote>Assistant Secretary</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H28E7DB12891E4DC78AE56EF936FEE0B9"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to any
			 individual appointed as the Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security
			 (Transportation Security Administration) after the date of enactment of this
			 Act.</text>
