		<official-title>To amend title 18, United States Code, to provide
		  criminal penalties for the destruction of memorials, headstones, markers, and
		  graves commemorating persons serving in the Armed Forces on private
		  property.</official-title>

		<section id="H1540DCC2C2E644E196D7B9A93293C98F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short Title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Lance Corporal Jeremy Burris
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HD640F559CC7B4448A208A77800DAAA9C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Criminal
			 penalties for the destruction of memorials, headstones, markers, and graves
			 commemorating persons serving in the Armed Forces on private
			 property</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1369 of title
			 18, United States Code, is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H6EE5554582AF44AA813216A4A7748C3C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the heading by
			 inserting <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">, headstones, and
			 graves</header-in-text></quote> after <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">memorials</header-in-text></quote>;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HCC1C665601374D889B10A7CC01CBD06"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in
			 subsection (a)—</text>
				<subparagraph id="H332EC2D0CDAB4098B2CF7B7EE2F7EB5D"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>willfully</quote> and inserting <quote>knowingly</quote>;</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H23FDC6FD33BE41AEBE7CA3BD88CA10DF"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>on public property</quote>;</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6435899878144D2484D34C1CDD844C7"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>armed forces</quote> and inserting <quote>Armed Forces</quote>;
			 and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H14748DBA01A04CB900A64E002C9708EE"><enum>(D)</enum><text>by inserting
			 <quote>, or any grave or headstone or marker marking the grave of any such
			 person,</quote> after <quote>United States</quote>;</text>
				</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H581D389AA7BF49D380D38F57F5112907"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in subsection
			 (b)(2) by inserting <quote>grave, headstone, marker,</quote> after
			 <quote>statue,</quote>; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HD887C9F8E28C41E9A54C8600B32F4CA3"><enum>(4)</enum><text>by adding at the
			 end the following new subsection:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HCC21F3C40FB84FDC9B3F079EF71FFECE" style="OLC">
					<subsection id="HDD2C585CCD754598AFF55952C05FF03E"><enum>(c)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For the purposes of this section, the term
				<term>grave</term> includes any object placed on such grave to commemorate the
				veteran or member of the Armed Forces of the United States buried in such
				grave.</text>
