		  to extend the Troubled Asset Relief Program, and for other

		<section id="HB67137E142BF4FE4A0DE8D0B607D1060" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>TARP Sunset and Fiscal Responsibility Act of
			 2009</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H11004F9986C34394AE8EC6FEC81E03CB"><enum>2.</enum><header>Repeal of TARP
			 extension authority</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section
			 120 of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (12 U.S.C. 5230) is
			 amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="H481A59123463427EA4652C34C2566F18"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC"><enum-in-header>(a)</enum-in-header>
			 Termination.—</header-in-text></quote>; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="H22DA0B4B35C34725BB7BD02FECC38843"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking
			 subsection (b).</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="H4EB2D6E2917749C483F63DCDA05E998D"><enum>3.</enum><header>TARP funds used
			 to pay down national debt</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Notwithstanding any other provision of law,
			 all funds repaid, and profits paid, to the Secretary of the Treasury by
			 companies in connection with assistance received under the Troubled Asset
			 Relief Program under title I of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of
			 2008 shall be used to pay down the national debt.</text>
		</section><section id="HE1D6DDFB8FFC4D50AAE65ECB8DE4B775"><enum>4.</enum><header>Reduction of
			 statutory limit on the public debt</header>
			<subsection id="H2006C84AE2B344FFA07F3444766901AF"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3101 of title
			 31, United States Code, is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H49FB8FD690A6452AABAB9925023F5035"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (b),
			 by inserting <quote>minus the amount described in subsection (d)</quote> before
			 <quote>, outstanding at one time</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HAFCA749E3CBC45BBBB5082E48CE8D258"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the
			 end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HCD6AB04B0E9B460E8BC885259FA85B99" style="OLC">
						<subsection id="H21D61B3962464EF2A2973B6B9241A4B4"><enum>(d)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amount described in this subsection is
				$700,000,000,000 minus the amount of troubled assets purchased by the Secretary
				of the Treasury under the Troubled Asset Relief Program under title I of the
				Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 outstanding on December 31, 2009,
				but in no case shall the amount described in this subsection be less than
				$0.</text>
						</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H30A4E343F29D408397359809ED092F87"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The provisions of this section shall take effect on January
			 1, 2010.</text>
