		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HC6571FA56B414076BEE53B6207AB81B8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Criminal Investigative Training
			 Restoration Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H825F43D9941D4FCDA48803A7AD998659" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Federal air marshals</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/49/44917">Section 44917</external-xref> of
			 title 49, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the
			 following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6602DDF5697B4ACCA7BAF01118A900A0" style="OLC">
				<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H87D73B7A03DD4CFABDB1FCC37BD60004"><enum>(e)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Criminal investigative training
				program</header>
					<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H469A5EC5582D4868AC074D6BEF264380"><enum>(1)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">New employee training</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 30 days after the date of
				enactment of the Criminal Investigative Training Restoration Act, the Federal
				Air Marshal Service shall require Federal air marshals hired after such date to
				complete the criminal investigative training program at the Federal Law
				Enforcement Training Center as part of basic training for Federal air
				marshals.</text>
					</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7F9E0EA0BC124A83988043E844A3EA2"><enum>(2)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Existing employees</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A Federal air marshal who has previously
				completed the criminal investigative training program shall not be required to
				repeat such program.</text>
					</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3CD0520C7F78406BAC7CA3F5F4AD053D"><enum>(3)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Alternative training</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 3 years after the date of
				enactment of the Criminal Investigative Training Restoration Act, an air
				marshal hired before such date who has not completed the criminal investigative
				training program shall be required to complete a alternative training program,
				as determined by the Federal Law Enforcement Center, that provides the training
				necessary to bridge the gap between the mixed basic police training, the
				Federal air marshal programs already completed by the Federal air marshal and
				the criminal investigative training provided through the criminal investigative
				training program. Any such alternative program shall be deemed to have met the
				standards of the criminal investigative training program.</text>
					</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5142FD0A6DD94A28AA1DECD4FE95B8B4"><enum>(4)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Authorization of
				appropriations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not less than
				$3,000,000 is authorized to be appropriated for each of fiscal years 2010 and
				2011 to carry out this subsection.</text>
					</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HDEA72646837A4AA19401280031FEB912"><enum>(5)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Savings
				clause</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Nothing in this
				subsection shall be construed to reclassify Federal air marshals as criminal
				investigators.</text>
					</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
