<official-title display="yes">To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study of the suitability and feasibility of expanding the boundary of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.<pagebreak/></official-title>

<section id="H1B5191C7605B448298AC0163F722673" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area Boundary Study Act of 2009</short-title></quote>.</text> </section>
<section id="HAA96555B79B54274A84D9BA3A4E576C2"><enum>2.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text> 
<paragraph id="H67BC17E4B10B4AB6B23F71E327187D1F"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of the Interior.</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="HC083B22532FD41C4002F735ECA00348F"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Recreation area</header><text>The term <term>recreation area</term> means the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area in the State of Georgia.</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H0C4C71CB8A7547F1A6EB28B1ED2517B2"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Study area</header><text>The term <term>study area</term> means the area of the Chattahoochee River and land along the river corridor described in section 3(a) that is the subject of the study authorized by this Act.</text> </paragraph></section>
<section id="HF7F9609732724BBD9ED287E054AE22C2"><enum>3.</enum><header>Boundary study</header> 
<subsection id="H67659922FA854BD29E89CC2DBDB90926"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The Secretary is authorized to conduct a study to determine the suitability and feasibility of including in the boundary of the recreation area approximately 45 miles of the Chattahoochee River and lands along the river corridor from the southern boundary of the recreation area south to the junction of Coweta, Heard, and Carroll Counties.</text> </subsection>
<subsection id="H1B685617057145128B6DB7F8A713FD5C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Contents</header><text>The study authorized under this Act shall include an analysis of—</text> 
<paragraph id="H337C2CEAD3A14293A1035094BDE34CB8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>significant resources or opportunities for public enjoyment within the study area related to purposes of the recreation area;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="HAF33A2A2CCE84C6A82979DF245A546F1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>operational and management issues that need to be considered if the study area is included within the recreation area;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="HFF1D4D511E33458A859FA77BC55429ED"><enum>(3)</enum><text>protection of resources within the study area critical to fulfilling the recreation area’s purposes;</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H0AFB88656374474DA24131D21115F3C"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the feasibility of administering the study area as part of the recreation area considering the study area’s size, configuration, ownership, costs, and other factors; and</text> </paragraph>
<paragraph id="H721A9D1A8AAF4DA1B0C0C509978130C8"><enum>(5)</enum><text>the adequacy of other alternatives for management and protection of resources within the study area.</text> </paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H0BCEE30839FF4F36001BBB40E0454F9E"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than three years after the date on which funds are made available to carry out this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report that describes the findings and conclusions of the study and any recommendations of the Secretary.</text> </subsection></section>
