		<official-title display="yes">To amend
		  <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/5542">section
		  5542</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, to provide that any hours
		  worked by Federal firefighters under a qualified trade-of-time arrangement
		  shall be excluded for purposes of determinations relating to overtime
		  pay.</official-title>

		<section id="HC5F628C6CAE64B53B1BB1000CBA86E02" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Treatment of hours worked
			 under a trade-of-time arrangements</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/5542">Section 5542</external-xref> of
			 title 5, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the
			 following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5165E5E1C6F9485990B5AF4C1B23E15" style="USC">
				<subsection id="H6249ACF0E5F3403890C83592F2FF17B9"><enum>(g)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HF237103BBDF241E8B13945379D0025D4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Notwithstanding any
				other provision of this section, any hours worked by a firefighter under a
				qualified trade-of-time arrangement shall be disregarded for purposes of any
				determination relating to eligibility for or the amount of any overtime pay
				under this section.</text>
					</paragraph><paragraph id="H3A4D2298E66D403199ED71CD9576732F" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>For purposes of this section—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H88C5FFF7FA564607B1871167F800DCCC"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the term <term>qualified trade-of-time
				arrangement</term> means an arrangement under which 2 firefighters who are
				employed by the same agency agree, solely at their option and with the approval
				of their employing agency, to substitute for one another during scheduled work
				hours in performance of work in the same capacity; and</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H556BC578C91A424681103D9500FBA395"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the term <term>firefighter</term> has
				the meaning given such term by sections 8331(21) and 8401(14),
				respectively.</text>
