<section id="H4C8674B1C8C1409CBC138A963EC8B088" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Reauthorization and enhancement of Johanna’s Law</header> 
<subsection id="H5053CD34678944378607024702A5734F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 317P(d) of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 247b–17(d)(4)) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H5EE7C1FEAE01444A959C8C40679ED70D"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (4), by inserting after <quote>2009</quote> the following: <quote>and $18,000,000 for the period of fiscal years 2012 through 2014</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H1F925CF1A4604E548FB7B1E2F513439B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraph (4) as paragraph (6).</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HDD3B637404E34EC5AA820F65B70AF9D9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Consultation with nonprofit gynecologic cancer organizations</header><text>Section 317P(d) of such Act (42 U.S.C. 247b–17(d)), as amended by subsection (a), is further amended by inserting after paragraph (3) the following:</text>

<paragraph id="H8E4B91858ECB4E339CBF73C97EFA7FA3"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Consultation with nonprofit gynecologic cancer organizations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In carrying out the national campaign under this subsection, the Secretary shall consult with the leading nonprofit gynecologic cancer organizations, with a mission both to conquer ovarian or other gynecologic cancer nationwide and to provide outreach to State and local governments and communities, for the purpose of determining the best practices for providing gynecologic cancer information and outreach services to varied populations.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection></section> 
<section id="H1093CE94451A46AC8DD55BDF7058AFEA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Demonstration projects regarding outreach and education strategies relating to gynecologic cancer</header> 
<subsection id="HD3EA682128914678A514B949C16FDC6F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 317P(d) of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 247b–17(d)), as amended by section 1, is further amended by inserting after paragraph (4) the following: </text>

<paragraph id="H193FCED55C694E3D86739963818B7AD6"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Demonstration projects regarding outreach and education strategies</header> 
<subparagraph id="HE9DB0D9E26AA4DCFB2D7D1AFC17D3BB8"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary may carry out a program to award grants or contracts to public or nonprofit private entities for the purpose of carrying out demonstration projects to test and compare different evidence-based outreach and education strategies to increase the awareness and knowledge of women and health care providers with respect to gynecologic cancers, including early warning signs, risk factors, prevention, screening, and treatment options. Such strategies shall include efforts directed at women and their families, physicians, nurses, and key health professionals.</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HBA63AEC303CC483CBE59011C49658833"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Preferences in awarding grants or contracts</header><text>In making awards under subparagraph (A), the Secretary shall give preference to—</text> 
<clause id="HC8DE22ED321F4A61B6E8AE4957709D4B"><enum>(i)</enum><text>applicants with demonstrated expertise in gynecologic cancer education or treatment or in working with groups of women who are at increased risk of gynecologic cancers; and</text></clause> 
<clause id="H17421300E0DB4CB3A7CF03E39F70A525"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>applicants that, in the demonstration project funded by the grant or contract, will establish linkages between physicians, nurses, and key health professionals, health profession students, hospitals, payers, and State health departments.</text></clause></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HAC23CD3AA18B4871832C9C61601E8FBC"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Application</header><text>To seek a grant or contract under subparagraph (A), an entity shall submit an application to the Secretary in such form, in such manner, and containing such agreements, assurances, and information as the Secretary determines to be necessary to carry out this paragraph.</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H3FD3129FF5234354A5FFF38D2EEED96B"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Certain requirements</header><text>In making awards under subparagraph (A), the Secretary shall—</text> 
<clause id="HF29DE63986294C0686C7138CD04160EA"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">make awards, as practicable, to not fewer than five applicants; and</text></clause> 
<clause id="HBC6649637C254842B2C876EE7977BF62"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>ensure that information provided through demonstration projects under this paragraph is consistent with the best available medical information.</text></clause></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H5372919AB37E47A6A68DEEA3CDB85D9E"><enum>(E)</enum><header>Report to congress</header><text>Not later than 12 months after the date of the enactment of this paragraph, and annually thereafter, the Secretary shall submit to the Congress a report that—</text> 
<clause id="HFFCB826255C24E6699C93A0A34D022F1"><enum>(i)</enum><text>summarizes the activities of demonstration projects under subparagraph (A);</text></clause> 
<clause id="H95833222E7914B60B61A43188BCAB3AC"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>evaluates the extent to which the projects were effective in increasing early detection of gynecologic cancers and awareness and knowledge of risk factors and early warning signs in the populations to which the projects were directed; and</text></clause> 
<clause id="H919E45BA06374C18896E50D3DDAE7583"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>identifies barriers to early detection and appropriate treatment of such cancers.</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H64E75837AC384B4B9CF7711E90F65A74"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 317P(d)(3)(A) of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 247b–17(d)(3)(A)) is amended by inserting <quote>(other than paragraph (5))</quote> after <quote>this section</quote>.</text></subsection></section>
