		provide for the transportation of the dependents, remains, and effects of
		certain Federal employees who die while performing official duties or as a
		result of the performance of official duties.</quote>, do pass with the
		following</text>

				<section id="H8D688B63876F4D81A77722533C773105" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
		<quote><short-title>Special Agent Samuel Hicks Families of Fallen Heroes
		Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
				</section><section id="H9299045EECA14B2AB50DD8B92D2F7B3C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Transportation
		and moving expenses for immediate family of certain deceased Federal
		employees</header>
					<subsection id="HA2A0E48F8BB14A8D9493BD3FE6A4FC84"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
		general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subchapter II of
		chapter 57 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by inserting after
		section 5724c the following:</text>
						<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H95BC40C498AC4CA2B94CD24EC5C75BE2" style="USC">
							<section id="H303D6070C71E47CE80F6D5697360C79E"><enum>5724d.</enum><header>Transportation
		  and moving expenses for immediate family of certain deceased Federal
		  employees</header>
								<subsection id="HF88284A38AD0433A96298D0F18DC7A83"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
		  general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Under regulations
		  prescribed by the President, the head of the agency concerned (or a designee)
		  may determine that a covered employee died as a result of personal injury
		  sustained while in the performance of the employee's duty and authorize or
		  approve the payment by the agency, from Government funds, of—</text>
									<paragraph id="HE6A65DE16E544BA9B4E272FFFEF70EC0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>any
		  qualified expense of the immediate family of the covered employee attributable
		  to a change in their place of residence, if the place where the immediate
		  family will reside following the death of the employee is—</text>
										<subparagraph id="H84B8E90A7F374894B98433DBC2652239"><enum>(A)</enum><text>different from the
		  place where the immediate family resided at the time of the employee’s death;
		  and</text>
										</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H686BA52C21A1425696A338168A7E65D4"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">within the United States; and</text>
										</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H62A85682074D425D9FDF1FA1B8325998"><enum>(2)</enum><text>any
		  expense of preparing and transporting the remains of the deceased to—</text>
										<subparagraph id="HEE581A1A9D40474087AA7AA5A5CE9B50"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the place where
		  the immediate family will reside following the death of the employee; or</text>
										</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDB762C99D834444A8D7FA470DF6F29D1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>such other place
		  appropriate for interment as is determined by the agency head (or
		  designee).</text>
										</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="IDa871e071bed249c1a0141b99d0399798"><enum>(b)</enum><header>No duplicate
		  payment of expenses</header><text>No expenses may be paid under this section if
		  those expenses are paid from Government funds under section 5742 or any other
		  authority.</text>
								</subsection><subsection id="H38A6512540814EE1BEDADEB29199D735"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this section—</text>
									<paragraph id="HC1AAE5C9C8B7423C966630A2543F450C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the
		  term <quote>covered employee</quote> means—</text>
										<subparagraph id="HB341E311518144F6870F7D12C6709B73"><enum>(A)</enum><text>a law enforcement
		  officer, as defined in section 5541;</text>
										</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H59F1E43D90424C039376DEAE83F0C852"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any employee in or
		  under the Federal Bureau of Investigation who is not described in subparagraph
		  (A); and</text>
										</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id46BD5F1A458A4AB09EEE4E7EEF97C658"><enum>(C)</enum><text>a customs and
		  border protection officer, as defined in section 8331(31); and</text>
										</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="IDa9ee53e61dba461bac4efc3cb2cb9188"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the term
		  <term>qualified expense</term>, as used with respect to an immediate family
		  changing its place of residence, means the transportation expenses of the
		  immediate family, the expenses of moving (including transporting, packing,
		  crating, temporarily storing, draying, and unpacking) the household goods and
		  personal effects of such immediate family, not in excess of 18,000 pounds net
		  weight, and, when authorized or approved by the agency head (or designee), the
		  transportation of 1 privately owned motor
		  vehicle.</text>
									</paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
					</subsection><subsection id="IDc733cc7bf8cc4580905a41da64b4edd8"><enum>(b)</enum><header>No relevance as
		to compensation claims</header><text>No determination made under section 5724d
		of title 5, United States Code, shall be deemed relevant to or be considered in
		connection with any claim for compensation under chapter 81 of that title or
		under any other law under which compensation may be provided on account of
		death or personal injury, nor shall any determination made with respect to any
		such claim be deemed relevant to or be considered in connection with any
		request for payment of expenses under such section 5724d.</text>
					</subsection><subsection id="H823A1C99E8E045A8918C1790B22CED1C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Clerical
		amendment</header><text>The table of sections for chapter 57 of title 5, United
		States Code, is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 5724c
		the following:</text>
