		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HC1894135E1A04EBFACA6F36727AA8239" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>American Veterans
			 Congressional Internship Program</header>
			<subsection id="H662B0FEF485C4B929F53BA690D51CFE1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Establishment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There is hereby established the American
			 Veterans Congressional Internship Program, under which each Member of the House
			 of Representatives may hire, for a period not to exceed 12 months, one
			 additional employee who meets the eligibility criteria described in subsection
			 (b) to serve as the American Veteran Congressional Intern.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H1A62675F2BF74DD4BBC8000D3DCC1244"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Criteria for
			 eligibility</header>
				<paragraph id="H13FBC93AEC2346DFA69CCB9560441497"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>An individual is eligible to serve as an American Veteran
			 Congressional Intern for the office of a Member of the House of Representatives
			 if the individual meets such criteria as the Committee on House Administration
			 may establish.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HB4043436416A4CEEB57267177EF225FC"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Specific
			 information and assurances</header><text>Under the criteria established under
			 paragraph (1), an individual shall not be eligible to serve as an Intern for
			 the office of a Member of the House of Representatives unless the individual
			 provides the following:</text>
					<subparagraph id="HC3E44A0004D44E00B08D616778E1C6CA"><enum>(A)</enum><text>A certification
			 that the individual served in the Armed Forces of the United States or in the
			 Reserve Components of the Armed Forces.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HD4E5F29CCEA24D9A85A111E4D5357172"><enum>(B)</enum><text>A certification
			 that the individual was honorably discharged from such service.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HF1E2AE0CECC746A38F1E6A1FEBCDC12A"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Compensation</header><text>A
			 Member of the House of Representatives shall pay the American Veteran
			 Congressional Intern serving in the Member’s office a total salary of $25,000,
			 to be paid to the Intern at a rate of $2,083.33 per month out of applicable
			 accounts of the House of Representatives.</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="H634B51DD8CD842CBB60D73DC9C46AC67"><enum>2.</enum><header>No
			 effect on number of employees or Member’s Representational
			 Allowance</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The employment of an
			 American Veteran Congressional Intern by a Member of the House of
			 Representatives, and the payment of a salary to such an Intern by a Member,
			 shall be in addition to all personnel and allowances otherwise made available
			 to Members under other provisions of law, rule, or other authority.</text>
		</section><section id="H421C130EBDE54BD6B1A93AA414C6F634"><enum>3.</enum><header>Regulations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Committee on House Administration shall
			 prescribe such regulations as may be necessary to carry out this Act.</text>
		</section><section id="H6C5D83D8D1D64916B4BFD0A1F6EC060B"><enum>4.</enum><header>Definition</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act, the term <quote>Member of the
			 House of Representatives</quote> includes a Delegate or Resident Commissioner
			 to Congress.</text>
