			 DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY AS THE DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY AND MARINE CORPS</header>
			<subsection id="H4EDC65DF9D19416286290AEF46FCF10E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Redesignation of
			 Military Department</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The
			 military department designated as the Department of the Navy is redesignated as
			 the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H5948FD0493864BBAB4B01218F33CEA1F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Redesignation of
			 Secretary and Other Statutory Offices</header>
				<paragraph id="H11500C4F3A32454CB8861963D3E3163A"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The position of the Secretary of the Navy
			 is redesignated as the Secretary of the Navy and Marine Corps.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HA7079B2DA620413F995FF851B9747A27"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Other statutory
			 offices</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The positions of the
			 Under Secretary of the Navy, the four Assistant Secretaries of the Navy, and
			 the General Counsel of the Department of the Navy are redesignated as the Under
			 Secretary of the Navy and Marine Corps, the Assistant Secretaries of the Navy
			 and Marine Corps, and the General Counsel of the Department of the Navy and
			 Marine Corps, respectively.</text>

			 AMENDMENTS TO TITLE 10, UNITED STATES CODE</header>
			<subsection id="H20067B6F80D74512B0CEAB1F8AF70C2D"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definition of
			 <quote>Military Department</quote></header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Paragraph (8) of
			 <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/101">section
			 101(a)</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, is amended to read as
			 follows:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8DE271CFFFE84CE0B8FE1B32E6878DD7" style="OLC">
					<paragraph id="H2493647210C344EBB613D6D170D36304"><enum>(8)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>military department</quote>
				means the Department of the Army, the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps,
				and the Department of the Air
				Force.</text>

			 of the Navy and Marine Corps is separately organized under the Secretary of the
			 Navy and Marine Corps.</quote>.</text>

			 Secretary</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 5013(a)(1)
			 of such title is amended by striking <quote>There is a Secretary of the
			 Navy</quote> and inserting <quote>There is a Secretary of the Navy and Marine
			 Corps</quote>.</text>

			 Headings</header>

			 striking <quote>Department of the Navy</quote> and <quote>Secretary of the
			 Navy</quote> each place they appear other than as specified in subsections (a),
			 (b), (c), and (d) (including in section headings, subsection captions, tables
			 of chapters, and tables of sections) and inserting <quote>Department of the
			 Navy and Marine Corps</quote> and <quote>Secretary of the Navy and Marine
			 Corps</quote>, respectively, in each case with the matter inserted to be in the
			 same typeface and typestyle as the matter stricken.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H0BFFB03FCB024A7F93692F91FCC9B783"><enum>(2)(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Sections 5013(f), 5014(b)(2), 5016(a),
			 5017(2), 5032(a), and 5042(a) of such title are amended by striking
			 <quote>Assistant Secretaries of the Navy</quote> and inserting <quote>Assistant
			 Secretaries of the Navy and Marine Corps</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HA3FF2BD85F204FB0A3A267805D56F4DE"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The heading of section 5016 of such title,
			 and the item relating to such section in the table of sections at the beginning
			 of chapter 503 of such title, are each amended by inserting <quote>and Marine
			 Corps</quote> after <quote>of the Navy</quote>, with the matter inserted in
			 each case to be in the same typeface and typestyle as the matter
			 amended.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section id="HC3FCBE786E6E4A1183D1CF4DE8EED9C6"><enum>3.</enum><header>OTHER PROVISIONS
			 OF LAW AND OTHER REFERENCES</header>
			<subsection id="HE62CE46BCAB3413DA3F09835ADD96503"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Title 37, United
			 States Code</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Title 37, United
			 States Code, is amended by striking <quote>Department of the Navy</quote> and
			 <quote>Secretary of the Navy</quote> each place they appear and inserting
			 <quote>Department of the Navy and Marine Corps</quote> and <quote>Secretary of
			 the Navy and Marine Corps</quote>, respectively.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HB6D4CD82D1184F91A95FF546E3460BE7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Other
			 References</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any reference in
			 any law other than in title 10 or title 37, United States Code, or in any
			 regulation, document, record, or other paper of the United States, to the
			 Department of the Navy shall be considered to be a reference to the Department
			 of the Navy and Marine Corps. Any such reference to an office specified in
			 section 2(b) shall be considered to be a reference to that officer as
			 redesignated by that section.</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="H0FEE752D1E46448C9D0947EAA8103DF4"><enum>4.</enum><header>EFFECTIVE
			 DATE</header>
			<subsection id="H17DA761587D64DA0B361994BE2220F94"><enum></enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">This Act and the amendments made by this
			 Act shall take effect on the first day of the first month beginning more than
			 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
