			 <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Transportation and
			 Infrastructure</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by
			 the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within
			 the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc>

		<official-title>To provide for the joint appointment of the Architect of
		  the Capitol by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the majority leader
		  of the Senate, the minority leaders of the House of Representatives and Senate,
		  and the chairs and ranking minority members of the committees of Congress with
		  jurisdiction over the Office of the Architect of the Capitol, and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="H89CC5A4EF3B24BFBA3FCC7D6D63B8CB6" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short Title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Architect of the Capitol Appointment Act of
			 2009</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H7F5B193EDB754AC5BF115DDFCE087FBB"><enum>2.</enum><header>Appointment and
			 Term of Service of Architect of the Capitol</header>
			<subsection id="H449A93FFE0E94C7D92BBCDA44B45E98E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Appointment</header><text>The
			 Architect of the Capitol shall be appointed jointly by the Speaker of the House
			 of Representatives, the majority leader of the Senate, the minority leaders of
			 the House of Representatives and Senate, the chair and ranking minority member
			 of the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives, the chair
			 and ranking minority member of the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate,
			 the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on House Administration
			 of the House of Representatives, and the chair and ranking minority member of
			 the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H038B8B4274F040888DC176BF66F5858D"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Term of
			 Service</header><text>The Architect of the Capitol shall be appointed for a
			 term of 10 years, and may be reappointed for additional terms.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HFE12B27CAB254C5FAF4C7695D1518F0B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Conforming
			 Amendment</header><text>Section 319 of the Legislative Branch Appropriations
			 Act, 1990 (2 U.S.C. 1801) is repealed.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HFDE624FF896D472887AFEE2D08F557D4"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Effective
			 Date</header><text>This section shall apply with respect to appointments made
			 on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
