		<official-title>To amend title 13, United States Code, to require that,
		  for purposes of any decennial census, any individual who is incarcerated as of
		  the date on which such census is taken shall be attributed to the place that
		  was such individual’s last usual place of residence before such individual’s
		  incarceration began.</official-title>

		<section id="H083FB4B777DE4C53A00CEACB95709313" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Requirement</header>
			<subsection id="H99D2C43FEFDE4285B690E830AC411B63"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 141 of title
			 13, United States Code, is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H9580E044C45A44BFAF59DB309665D7ED"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating
			 subsection (g) as subsection (h); and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H0DBB084E36D3408C8E6415CE8EFEE746"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 subsection (f) the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H870B6D7EAD71448CB1655CA15C37A0FC" style="USC">
						<subsection id="HC0C093A3D88F4678A6D87A2648F4230F"><enum>(g)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H691162B4675F4B2C8557B5A601F27DA2"><enum>(1)</enum><text>In conducting any
				decennial census under subsection (a), the Secretary shall, to the extent the
				Secretary considers it to be feasible and appropriate, attribute any individual
				who is incarcerated, as of the date on which such census is taken, to the place
				that was such individual’s last usual place of residence before such
				individual’s incarceration began.</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="H287A1FF8062E4F1DA65C661D13930B88" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>For purposes of this subsection, the
				term <term>usual place of residence</term> has such meaning as the Secretary
				shall by regulation prescribe.</text>

				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H8B605EC22D874F3C85659FE62A697A8D"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this Act shall apply with respect to
			 any decennial census taken after the end of the 1-year period beginning on the
			 date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
