<official-title>To amend title 11 of the United States Code to make nondischargeable debts for personal injuries that result in permanent disability.</official-title>

<section id="HA5F66CB09FA544C8B3861E332C6E3E16" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as <quote><short-title>Savannah’s Law</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H10DD746454B14C34A37DCE5175A2CCA8"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendment</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 523(a) of title 11, the United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H31D0D2C830CA4EFEBC164A1C88F15332"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (18) by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end,</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HAE21C9DACB2D4CFBBBBFE67618089A7F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (19) by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; or</quote>, and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H85795E4D2AC2469EA0A827075604C9E0"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (19) the following:</text>

<paragraph id="H3EB8CADA2E2D4D549F8C15EE15A29933"><enum>(20)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">for a personal injury that results in a permanent disability.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> 
<section id="H742201987F1B4580A6778AB19AD0D8AA"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date; application of amendments</header> 
<subsection id="HDB5218A825C1412CA821F213B1ECB401"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>Except as provided in subsection (b), this Act and the amendments made by this Act shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H23C83C0991B349EEA9669B5C624D8105"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application of amendments</header><text>The amendments made by this Act shall apply only with respect to cases commenced under title 11 of the United States Code on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section>
