<section id="H73D3B938D86A4E429D410020C862D1B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Extension of length of contracts for renewable energy sources and associated services</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 501(b)(1)(B) of title 40, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:</text>

<subparagraph id="H089A5AEB074242CFA200C8FBA71F87BC"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Public utility contracts</header> 
<clause id="H59ED157B358A4A81BEF8191D68DF611B"><enum>(i)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Except as provided in clause (ii), a contract for public utility services may be made for a period of not more than 10 years.</text> </clause> 
<clause id="HFC90577B44E54B20AF55001657399DD7"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Renewable energy contracts</header><text>A contract for renewable energy public utility services may be made for a period of not more than 30 years. </text> </clause> 
<clause id="H1A0C3633583E40B89500713F536544E"><enum>(iii)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this paragraph:</text> 
<subclause id="H9DDA1BB2891641F69FFFB67DC63EEA"><enum>(I)</enum><header>Public utility services</header><text>The term <term>public utility services</term> means generation, transmission, distribution, or other services directly used in providing electrical energy to consumers.</text> </subclause> 
<subclause id="HE5ADCE3673FE4EC9A1C9CA804385DEC2"><enum>(II)</enum><header>Renewable energy</header><text>The term <term>renewable energy</term> means electrical energy generated from solar, wind, biomass, landfill gas, ocean (including tidal, wave, current, and thermal), geothermal, municipal solid waste, or new hydroelectric generation capacity achieved from increased efficiency, or additional new capacity at an existing hydroelectric project, and the transmission, distribution, or other services directly used in providing electrical energy from such sources.</text> </subclause></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </section>
