		<official-title display="yes">To amend title 38, United States Code, to
		  provide for an increase in the amount payable by the Secretary of Veterans
		  Affairs to veterans for improvements and structural alterations furnished as
		  part of home health services.</official-title>

		<section id="H236AA52C440144FE90CE3C3484FCA815" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Disabled Veterans Home Improvement and
			 Structural Alteration Grant Increase Act of 2009</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HE9AF708D506D455CA4F38D83A66D1887"><enum>2.</enum><header>Increase in
			 amount available to disabled veterans for improvements and structural
			 alterations furnished as part of home health services</header>
			<subsection id="H6653D8133AEE42F7AED6D6219906EC91"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Increase</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/1717">Section 1717(a)(2)</external-xref> of title 38,
			 United States Code, is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H6C6D601CFC9F4F82A9354C6720D45277"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph
			 (A), by striking <quote>$4,100</quote> and inserting <quote>$6,800</quote>;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H9595B7BDF46C44269FC856E7BB2372AE"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph
			 (B), by striking <quote>$1,200</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>$2,000</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HB2E2937160FD41929ED3207748AF05D1"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 Date</header><text>The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply with
			 respect to a veteran who first applies for benefits under
			 <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/1717">section
			 1717(a)(2)</external-xref> of title 38, United States Code, on or after the
			 date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H9CA1369089144204A1C4E4A6BF00E262"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A veteran who exhausts such veteran’s
			 eligibility for benefits under
			 <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/1717">section
			 1717(a)(2)</external-xref> of title 38, United States Code, before the date of
			 the enactment of this Act, is not entitled to additional benefits under such
			 section by reason of the amendments made by subsection (a).</text>
