<official-title>To amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to require local educational agencies to provide to parents, on request, information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s pupil services instructors.</official-title>

<section id="H6BB43FD52B8D4038974E87715DB1A6B8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Parents’ Right to Know Improvement Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section> 
<section id="HFA9B853966284A89B714D83F35542E10"><enum>2.</enum><header>Specialized instructional support person</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1111(h)(6) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 6311(h)(6)) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HEA2A6AD02FE244839B8DE85F57946229"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (A)—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HBA1AC7618758490C914608A4C0F557C4"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the matter preceding clause (i), by inserting <quote>and pupil services instructors</quote> after <quote>teachers</quote>; </text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HBCD8E57E30744652A8B92E00A5A81FA1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking clause (i) and inserting the following:</text> 
<quoted-block style="OLC" id="H6433DD1441D74A86849FCCD9C14C8500" display-inline="no-display-inline"> 
<clause id="H5F35EE6EA2DE4AE4AC4F50985E346EC5"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whether State qualification and licensing criteria have been met by—</text> 
<subclause id="H8C80E3A092BB4948B201DDA402F1926C"><enum>(I)</enum><text>the teacher for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction; or</text></subclause> 
<subclause id="H1E651F72DF694D12A7B1E1C63BEF1ED"><enum>(II)</enum><text>the pupil services instructor for the instruction described in subparagraph (D) which the pupil services instructor provides.</text></subclause></clause><after-quoted-block>;</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H61C1E523E8D94D9B9FCC1DFF736C9473"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in clause (ii), by inserting <quote>, or the pupil services instructor is providing the instruction described in subparagraph (D), </quote> after <quote>teaching</quote>; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HF911F4FE92604C168B28666BA6000031"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in clause (iii), by inserting <quote>or pupil services instructor</quote> after <quote>teacher</quote> each place it appears; and </text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H36FE4D0EEB1B478085C78BD85F6B23B8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subparagraph: </text>

<subparagraph id="H2729CB542A594FC897B0D9DD32C34ED0"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Definition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this paragraph, the term <quote>pupil services instructor</quote> means a qualified professional who provides ongoing, direct instruction to children with disabilities with individualized education programs as defined in section 602 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 U.S.C. 1401).</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
