		<official-title>To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to
		  improve the quality of care in skilled nursing facilities under the Medicare
		  Program through requiring the reporting of expenditures for
		  nursing.</official-title>

		<section id="H603EAE62E9864A5D8CF351A847A18D9F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Long-Term Care Quality Improvement Act
			 of 2009</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HC086E27A79244586AAC066BF5D93DDF7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Improvement in
			 quality of long-term care in skilled nursing facilities under
			 Medicare</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1888 of the
			 Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395yy) is amended by adding at the end the
			 following new subsection:</text>

				<subsection id="HDD90966B2506410CAA3D3F2D0935B5EF"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Detailed
				reporting of nursing expenditures</header>
					<paragraph id="H036CF581BDF14F9EBBA018A401BF41F0"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text>For cost reports submitted for cost reporting periods
				beginning on or after four months after the date of the enactment of this
				subsection, skilled nursing facilities shall separately report expenditures for
				wages and benefits for nursing staff (by staff level, breaking out (at a
				minimum) registered nurses, licensed professional nurses, and certified nurse
				assistants).</text>
					</paragraph><paragraph id="HEAED88F4730F470A821F9E00974897F4"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Modification of
				form</header><text>The Secretary, in consultation with private sector
				accountants experienced with Medicare and Medicaid nursing facility home cost
				reports, shall redesign such reports to meet the requirement of paragraph
				(1).</text>
