		  labeling, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Truth in Fur Labeling Act of
			 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idA51EAD41D5D24C1283185C780337BD62" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Elimination of exemption to fur product
			 labeling requirements for products containing relatively small quantities or
			 values of fur</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id9BD79BED50BC464ABD0345B3303E273D"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2(d) of the Fur Products Labeling
			 Act (15 U.S.C. 69(d)) is amended by striking <quote>; except that</quote> and
			 all that follows through <quote>contained therein</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id39CE89DBAB184725847F913AA64F3846"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendment made by
			 subsection (a) shall take effect on the date that is 90 days after the date of
			 the enactment of this Act.</text>
			</subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID97c1af7331334c029fd70f30ac979ed5" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Amendment to Fur Products Name Guide to
			 eliminate consumer confusion over products containing racoon dog fur</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id16C60C298D914FF78AB075F433B5EEC5"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Clarification</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 90 days after the date of
			 the enactment of this Act, the Federal Trade Commission shall amend the item
			 relating to <quote>Racoon, Asiatic</quote> in the Fur Products Name Guide (16
			 C.F.R 301.0)—</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idC774D408E8FA4AC6B5F6CFA0B79EE7C7"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking <quote>Raccoon, Asiatic</quote>
			 and inserting <quote>Dog, Raccoon</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id1CD1EF9C1A9240F58102C36872FFC919"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking <quote>Nyctereutes
			 Procyonoidos</quote> and inserting <quote>Nyctereutes
			 Procyonoides</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7B79235B62C542388168E2D90F9C1BFE"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Conforming amendments</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 90 days after the date of
			 the enactment of this Act, the Federal Trade Commission shall make such
			 amendments to such other rules or guidance documents issued by the Commission
			 under section 7 of the Fur Products Labeling Act (15 U.S.C. 69e) as the
			 Commission considers appropriate to bring such rules or guidance documents into
			 conformity with the Fur Products Name Guide as amended in accordance with
			 subsections (a) and (b).</text>
			</subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID2c77340e186049249bc9f908f6531530" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>4.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">State authority to regulate labeling of fur
			 products</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idE4B19AE3CDE6456DAE41A1C8D1B13820"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 12 of the Fur Products Labeling Act
			 (15 U.S.C. 69(j)) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id19C18D13E7FC40928F9E8B1CC3DBFC78"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking <quote>The provisions
			 of</quote> and inserting <quote>(a) The provisions of</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id20CAFC2E990C4346891609342C47D203"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by adding at the end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idACA931FF98EC4B7DA230A4CE95A14066" style="OLC">
						<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idBC7E49B0994E40FF9E8CBE0743E76114"><enum>(b)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Nothing in this Act shall preclude or deny
				any right of any State or political subdivision thereof to adopt or enforce any
				provision of State or local law that provides more restrictive labeling
				requirements for fur products than what is provided for in this
				Act.</text>
						</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDc0e35dc38c7a48b0bc08c43fd44a975d"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 subsection (a) shall take effect on the date that is 90 days after the date of
			 the enactment of this Act.</text>
