			 attendance fee for petit jurors serving on lengthy trials</header>
			<subsection id="id45F428DB4CFF47E2AF083B1CE6B2F006"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1871(b)(2) of
			 title 28, United States Code, is amended by striking <quote>thirty</quote> in
			 each place it occurs and inserting <quote>ten</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id34F98626E38C439AAAB87F74B63115F5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 this section shall take effect on October 1, 2009.</text>

			 Code, is amended—</text>

			 sentence, by striking <quote>publicly</quote>; and</text>

			 court reporter for all or any part of the stenographic transcript</quote> and
			 inserting <quote>for printed or electronically recorded transcripts</quote>;
			 and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="idC3528A30222E482BA3B287255D54D6CA"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (4), by striking <quote>copies
			 of papers</quote> and inserting <quote>the costs of making copies of any
			 materials where the copies are</quote>.</text>

			 obsolete provision in the bankruptcy code relating to certain dollar

			 subsection as paragraphs (1) and (2), respectively;</text>

			 subsection (b)(2) as subsection (b);</text>

			 court registry funds</header>
			<subsection id="id86EE503945FC4C4D869EAE92172266E8"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 General</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Chapter 129 of title
			 28, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 2044 the
			 following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idE2178C111DF94382835A8F57B7FFBC1B" style="USC">
					<section id="ID22984ebe82b749e7ac3aa4c4048a687a"><enum>2045.</enum><header>Investment of
				court registry funds</header>
						<subsection id="IDdb8f2ef5e49045b2a02ac74c8c6f64cd"><enum>(a)</enum><text>The Director of
				the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, or the Director's
				designee under subsection (b), may request the Secretary of the Treasury to
				invest funds received under section 2041 in public debt securities with
				maturities suitable to the needs of the funds, as determined by the Director or
				the Director's designee, and bearing interest at a rate determined by the
				Secretary of the Treasury, taking into consideration current market yields on
				outstanding marketable obligations of the United States of comparable
				maturity.</text>
						</subsection><subsection id="IDff7eeb9ee9ba4a178c397f40ce10f509"><enum>(b)</enum><text>The Director may
				designate the clerk of a court described in section 610 to exercise the
				authority conferred by subsection
				(a).</text>

			</subsection><subsection id="id7D4A65C313504A208AF92E9092C151C0"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Technical and
			 conforming amendment</header><text>The table of sections for chapter 129 of
			 title 28, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the

			 participation at circuit conferences</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 333 of title 28, United States Code,
			 is amended in the first sentence by inserting <quote>magistrate,</quote> after
			 <quote>district,</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="IDbb0d61e7a5064249a9a4bab0ed13502b"><enum>10.</enum><header>Selection of
			 chief pretrial services officers</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3152 of title 18, United States
			 Code, is amended by striking subsection (c) and inserting the following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id53C74977E6A449EC893FD058F34EE2CF" style="OLC">
				<subsection id="ID6d250024862d4b469965cc54c298d749"><enum>(c)</enum><text>The pretrial
				services established under subsection (b) of this section shall be supervised
				by a chief pretrial services officer appointed by the district court. The chief
				pretrial services officer appointed under this subsection shall be an
				individual other than one serving under authority of section 3602 of this
				title.</text>
				</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
		</section><section id="ID29764a6f54b3430d8679d34031062931"><enum>11.</enum><header>Attorney case
			 compensation maximum amounts</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3006A(d)(2) of title 18, United
			 States Code, is amended by adding <quote>The compensation maximum amounts
			 provided in this paragraph shall increase simultaneously by the same
			 percentage, rounded to the nearest multiple of $100, as the aggregate
			 percentage increases in the maximum hourly compensation rate paid pursuant to
			 paragraph (1) for time expended since the case maximum amounts were last
			 adjusted.</quote> at the end.</text>
		</section><section id="ID57c4677cb5e94dde87ab84dfa74007f7"><enum>12.</enum><header>Expanded
			 delegation authority for reviewing Criminal Justice Act vouchers in excess of
			 case compensation maximums</header>

			 amounts</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3006A(d)(3)
			 of title 18, United States Code, is amended in the second sentence by inserting

			 financially unable defendants</header><text>Section 3599(g)(2) of title 18,
			 United States Code, is amended in the second sentence by inserting <quote>or
			 senior</quote> after <quote>active</quote>.</text>

			 obsolete cross-references to the Narcotic Addict Rehabilitation
			 Act</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3161(h) of title
			 18, United States Code, is amended—</text>

			 probation and supervised release</header>
			<subsection id="ID15becc8a983f4510a34373b6f85ded44"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Conditions of
			 probation</header><text>Section 3563(a)(2) of title 18, United States Code, is
			 amended by striking <quote>(b)(2), (b)(3), or (b)(13),</quote> and inserting
			 <quote>(b)(2) or (b)(12), unless the court has imposed a fine under this
			 chapter, or</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="ID2ad0dbcc25fb4e249ea70bec6de25f9c"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Supervised
			 release after imprisonment</header><text>Section 3583(d) of title 18, United
			 States Code, is amended by striking <quote>section 3563(b)(1)</quote> and all
			 that follows through <quote>appropriate.</quote> and inserting <quote>section
			 3563(b) and any other condition it considers to be appropriate, provided,
			 however that a condition set forth in subsection 3563(b)(10) shall be imposed
			 only for a violation of a condition of supervised release in accordance with
			 section 3583(e)(2) and only when facilities are available.</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="ID1aa8a06df0894fa8a18d2b473d955bc1"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Technical and
			 conforming amendment</header><text>Section 3563(b)(10) of title 18, United
			 States Code, is amended by inserting <quote>or supervised release</quote> after
			 <quote>probation</quote>.</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="ID83e98214fdd5453697a3c0e90e3642c9"><enum>15.</enum><header>Contracting for
			 services for pretrial defendants and post-conviction supervision
			 offenders</header>
			<subsection id="IDd004f7a72ad140e1ae645c4f71b2dbba"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Pretrial
			 service functions</header><text>Section 3154(4) of title 18, United States
			 Code, is amended by inserting <quote>, and contract with any appropriate public
			 or private agency or person, or expend funds, to monitor and provide treatment
			 as well as nontreatment services to any such persons released in the community,
			 including equipment and emergency housing, corrective and preventative guidance
			 and training, and other services reasonably deemed necessary to protect the
			 public and ensure that such persons appear in court as required</quote> before
			 the period.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="idFDBF80CFC8664BD89DE81F9A870D15BC"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Duties of
			 Director of Administrative Office of the United States
			 Courts</header><text>Section 3672 of title 18, United States Code, is amended
			 in the seventh undesignated paragraph—</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0EA76F19140345E0AC1C956CCC2BF6CE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the third
			 sentence, by striking <quote>negotiate and award such contracts</quote> and
			 inserting <quote>negotiate and award contracts identified in this
			 paragraph</quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="id311B34BB65F34C129596C4AC8D688761"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in the fourth
			 sentence, by inserting <quote>to expend funds or</quote> after <quote>He shall
			 also have the authority</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section id="ID96aa5b8e46ba40e988a317dd6143cc29"><enum>16.</enum><header>Judge members
			 of U.S. Sentencing Commission</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 991(a) of title 28, United States
			 Code, is amended in the third sentence by striking <quote>Not more than</quote>
			 and inserting <quote>At least</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="ID53fe3d7862bc41f9a959ab92f6d40e3b"><enum>17.</enum><header>Penalty for
			 failure to appear for jury summons</header>
			<subsection id="ID62ea0fb13cc14fa69c8f78f0593ee072"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Section 1864
			 summons</header><text>Section 1864(b) of title 28, United States Code, is
			 amended by striking <quote>$100 or imprisoned not more than three days, or
			 both.</quote> each place it appears and inserting <quote>$1,000, imprisoned not
			 more than three days, ordered to perform community service, or any combination
			 thereof.</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="ID3192eb3e99184d3385c5bb7a56a3971d"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Section 1866
			 summons</header><text>Section 1866(g) of title 28, United States Code, is
			 amended by striking <quote>$100 or imprisoned not more than three days, or
