		<official-title>To provide benefits under the
		  Post-Deployment/Mobilization Respite Absence program for certain periods before
		  the implementation of the program. </official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Benefits under
			 Post-Deployment/Mobilization Respite Absence program for certain periods before
			 implementation of program</header>
			<subsection id="id26C73FC77A6C4597A0C56AAA23177CFD"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Under regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Defense,
			 the Secretary concerned shall provide any member or former member of the Armed
			 Forces with the benefits specified in subsection (b) if the member or former
			 member would, on any day during the period beginning on January 19, 2007, and
			 ending on the date of the implementation of the Post-Deployment/Mobilization
			 Respite Absence (PDMRA) program by the Secretary concerned, have qualified for
			 a day of administrative absence under the Post-Deployment/Mobilization Respite
			 Absence program had the program been in effect during such period.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id2F383B0D42594A15A7656C5BCD715C8B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Benefits</header><text>The
			 benefits specified in this subsection are the following:</text>
				<paragraph id="idEDA262EB79C14ACFAD01466E204EBDE8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>In the case of an
			 individual who is a former member of the Armed Forces at the time of the
			 provision of benefits under this section, payment of an amount not to exceed
			 $200 for each day the individual would have qualified for a day of
			 administrative absence as described in subsection (a) during the period
			 specified in that subsection.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="id71E6C7D8DB53418081DF8C14358C9BFB"><enum>(2)</enum><text>In the case of an
			 individual who is a member of the Armed Forces at the time of the provision of
			 benefits under this section, either one day of administrative absence or
			 payment of an amount not to exceed $200, as selected by the Secretary
			 concerned, for each day the individual would have qualified for a day of
			 administrative absence as described in subsection (a) during the period
			 specified in that subsection.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id25B0BB9D398D4B31996768D73BC8A5E0"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Exclusion of
			 certain former members</header><text>A former member of the Armed Forces is not
			 eligible under this section for the benefits specified in subsection (b)(1) if
			 the former member was discharged or released from the Armed Forces under other
			 than honorable conditions.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="idE741929537A54F8DB556F6222CF436F7"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Maximum number
			 of days of benefits providable</header><text>The number of days of benefits
			 providable to a member or former member of the Armed Forces under this section
			 may not exceed 40 days of benefits.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id39BFD0FEA8E1494784FCC94D255273E5"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Form of
			 payment</header><text>The paid benefits providable under subsection (b) may be
			 paid in a lump sum or installments, at the election of the Secretary
			 concerned.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="idA270550A4C2442C1A5696FB8B5545B77"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Construction
			 with other pay and leave</header><text>The benefits provided a member or former
			 member of the Armed Forces under this section are in addition to any other pay,
			 absence, or leave provided by law.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id51882B57DC9A41A4A38214DD0322DBDB"><enum>(g)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In
			 this section:</text>
				<paragraph id="idCAE3BBF6B68346E8A9F61253B51DF3A0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The term
			 <term>Post-Deployment/Mobilization Respite Absence program</term> means the
			 program of a military department to provide days of administrative absence not
			 chargeable against available leave to certain deployed or mobilized members of
			 the Armed Forces in order to assist such members in reintegrating into civilian
			 life after deployment or mobilization.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="idD77BA401C80E4C168333D44B43C85479"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The term
			 <term>Secretary concerned</term> has the meaning given that term in section
			 101(5) of title 37, United States Code.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id516EDC3D7F494638B4AC6BA4118E5221"><enum>(h)</enum><header>Termination</header>
				<paragraph id="idAAD20D4B35BA49869EBBAA8BBC798B36"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>The authority to provide benefits under this section
			 shall expire on the date that is one year after the date of the enactment of
			 this Act.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="id319364F99E4443468E98FFB3C5EA6643"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Construction</header><text>Expiration
			 under this subsection of the authority to provide benefits under this section
			 shall not affect the utilization of any day of administrative absence provided
			 a member of the Armed Forces under subsection (b)(2), or the payment of any
			 payment authorized a member or former member of the Armed Forces under
			 subsection (b), before the expiration of the authority in this section.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body>
