		<official-title>To make emergency supplemental appropriations for the
		  National Institutes of Health for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2008,
		  and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>NIH Emergency Supplemental
			 Appropriations Act of 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="id152D1E25184B4BBA95DD796FACEA0E85" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Supplemental
			 appropriations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">That the
			 following sums are appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise
			 appropriated for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2008, and for other
			 purposes, namely:</text>
			<paragraph id="id8C94401592BB478698A87CDEBC5CCCBF"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For an additional amount for the
			 <quote>Office of the Director, National Institutes of Health</quote>,
			 $4,000,000,000 which shall be transferred to the Institutes and Centers of the
			 National Institutes of Health to be used to support additional scientific
			 research.</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id342FE7200F4A48C0A044EC7C902EFDEF"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For an additional amount for the National
			 Cancer Institute, $1,200,000,000 to be used to support additional scientific
			 research.</text>
			</paragraph></section><section id="idA8CDC9683DA843BEBC9857F5E2532DFA" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header>General
			 provisions</header>
			<subsection id="id06BF0C561192478C98F7388CA905E11C"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Availability of
			 funds</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No part of the
			 appropriation contained in this Act shall remain available for obligation
			 beyond the current fiscal year.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="id16B686AA2C5A47B988B204F1A4313B9A"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Emergency
			 designation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Amounts in this
			 Act are designated as emergency requirements pursuant to section 402 of H. Con.
			 Res. 95 (109th Congress), and pursuant to section 501 of H. Con. Res. 376
			 (109th Congress) as made applicable to the House of Representatives by section
			 511(a)(4) of H. Res. 6 (110th Congress).</text>
