		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE97BF9DD27F84C7182FD84DC5639E0C2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Servitude and Emancipation Archival
			 Research ClearingHouse Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>SEARCH
			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3EC135030E1841E4B53ED00C1EEAEB9" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Establishment of National Archives database
			 of historic records regarding servitude and emancipation</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5F4F70E2C4C4430EA8619898000777D7"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Archivist of the United States shall
			 establish, as a part of the National Archives, a national database consisting
			 of historic records of servitude and emancipation in the United States to
			 assist African Americans in researching their genealogy.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H91FD5F1B2C72467AB0E0CB53F9927211"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Maintenance</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The database shall be maintained by the
			 National Historical Publications and Records Commission.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA3A5DACC8F574B8AB92434B93D2B778F"><enum>(c)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Authorization of
			 appropriations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There are
			 authorized to be appropriated—</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFACCC87913E64147AF0675D2B05F134F"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$5,000,000 to establish the database;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H1747453EA0C746A6B7BA1F2E38D8AA70"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$5,000,000 to provide grants to States and
			 colleges and universities to preserve local records of servitude and
			 emancipation.</text>
